THE FAUX “S/T EP”

Tarantulas, the label started by THE EXPLOSION has started off with two fairly crankin’ releases – a limited edition EP by the uber-rocking, THE BRONX (whose new full-length on Ferret is rrrrrrocking), and this six song EP by THE FAUX. Aptly described as a band with a punk rock core, corrupted by a new wave [...]

Pastepunk Infects Warped Tour 2004

I get a big, shiney trophy for being the first pastepunker to make their way to Warped. Plenty of people have expressed some disappointment at the lineup, but trust me, it’s still just sunburns, dehydration, and punk rock, and there’s nothing like it in the world. Make sure to go say hi to Kevin at the Punkrocks.net stage and check out YESTERDAY’S RISING on the smartpunk stage. I felt a serious lack of moshage this year around, and if you do too, make sure not to miss THE BLED, EIGHTEEN VISIONS, or UNDEROATH (whether you like their new material or not, they are great live). Check back later for a full review, and don’t have a heat stroke.

Initial Records is the Worst Label Ever!

This is really funny

In other news, Initial’s upcoming release from PAULSON, titled “”Variations,”" is quite stellar, sounding a bit like CAVE IN, circa “”Antenna,”" but with smoother edges. Check out the mp3 for “”A Great Pretending”" at the link below.

UNEARTH – The Oncoming Storm (!!!)

Another ZAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO download!!

It’s only two weeks until ZAO’s “”The Funeral of God”" hits stores, but in the meantime, the crew at Ferret has decided to increase our collective salivation by dropping another ZAO tune our way. (Woo!!). Check out “”Truly, Truly, This is the End,”" at the link below.

Senate passes PIRATE ACT

From Digital Music News:

US Senate Unanimously Passes Pirate Act

The US Senate unanimously passed the Pirate Act Friday without a hearing, putting the bill up for approval by the House and President. The bill will allow the Department of Justice, along with copyright holders, to file civil lawsuits against alleged copyright violators. If signed into law, the Pirate Act would add a very large muscle to current RIAA (and MPAA) copyright enforcement efforts. The DOJ has the ability to create a massive anti-piracy drive, one that could expand RIAA lawsuits by many multiples. Per Sen. Orrin Hatch: “”Tens of thousands of continuing civil enforcement actions might be needed to generate the necessary deterrence.”"

- …something tells me that the attorneys at the DOJ didn’t strive to become a “”DOJ lawyer”" to fight the economic threats presented by their sons and daughters swapping songs on P2P networks…

AUTHORITY ZERO’s “Andiamo” out today!

As if there weren’t enough cool releases coming out today, one should not forget about the brand new AUTHORITY ZERO full-length, “”Andiamo.”" Combining essentially the sounds of BAD RELIGION, PENNYWISE, and SUBLIME, these guys have an incredibly vivid, lively element that brings few comparisions. In support of the release, the band is stomping across the nation on the Warped Tour, and has released a video for the first single, “”Revolution”" (as also heard on the Rock Against Bush Vol. 1 compilation).
