LOOK MEXICO “This Is Animal Music”

LOOK MEXICO’s first full-length release, This Is Animal Music, is essentially an easing and consistently flowing album. From the playful opening of “You Come Into My House, While I Sleep?” where vocalist Matt Agrella sings “sleep now, but remember to wake up” in as carefree a manner as such a line would suggest to the [...]

JUNCTION 18

Few bands ever blow me away on first listen. Junction 18 though has earned that distinct honor. Within a week of listening to their debut full length, “This Viscious Cycle,” I knew that an interview had to be in the works. Without going into a lengthy introduction, this band is more than worthy of your [...]

DANCE GAVIN DANCE Debut New Song Titled “Alex English”

Sacramento’s DANCE GAVIN DANCE have posted another new song from their forthcoming self-titled album at their MySpace page. The song is titled “Alex English” and is presumably named after the former Denver Nuggets forward. At their MySpace page, you will also find the Star Wars-influenced cover art. Dance Gavin Dance comes out on August 19 through Rise Records.

- This is yet another departure from the basic sound found on Downtown Battle Mountain. I’m not sure exactly what makes it different, but it’s taking me more time to get into it. Props to the band for the 80s NBA reference though.

MANIC “Another New Home”

Earlier in the year, a group by the name of MANIC released a very promising EP that contained five lush indie rock songs in the vein of AS TALL AS LIONS and SNOW PATROL. Although a full-length was expected to be released next, the band has forgone normal industry standards and put out another EP, [...]

UNION 13

UNION 13 is perhaps one of the most underrated bands currently present in the punk rock scene. With an almost thrash like approach to playing of intensely passionate, sociocritical hardcore, UNION 13 doesn’t let anything get in the way of stopping its angst. The band caught the attention of Epitaph’s head honcho Brett Gurewitz through [...]

FEAR BEFORE Tour Dates And Recording Update

From the inbox:

FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES have not disappeared!! They’ve been home writing and demo-ing since the conclusion of their last tour with label-mates, CIRCA SURVIVE in the fall. This June, they’ll hit the road for a short DIY tour kicking off in their hometown of Denver, CO and bringing them to the northwest where they’ll be recording with producer Casey Bates at his studio outside of Seattle, WA beginning June 15th. Casey also produced the band’s last album, The Always Open Mouth.

The band will be playing a couple of those news songs on their upcoming trek with I AM THE OCEAN.

While in the studio, the band will be documenting their progress with a video blog via their Myspace. The album is scheduled for a Fall ’08 release.
