Irony Police!!

Earlier today, Earache Records sent out the following press release. I have highlighted the relevant wording in bold. Despite the obvious tastelessness of this news post, I really can’t something like this go unnoticed.

DECAPITATED INJURED IN ROAD CRASH

Two members of Decapitated have been seriously injured in a road accident involving their tour bus and a truck carrying wood in Gomel, on the Russia/Belarus border.

Vocalist Covan and drummer Vitek sustained serious head injuries as a result of the accident, and are to be taken 550km from Gomel to Moscow for emergency treatment.

All other members of the touring party are not reported to be seriously hurt.

Our thoughts are with all members of the tour at this time.

- What’s that saying… laughter is the best medicine…?

Travel Info:

- If you are Canadian and live in Canada, good job you are already here, just come to Vancouver. If you are Canadian and don’t live in Canada I assume you know how to get back.

- If you are American and driving up then you will need your passport OR your birth certificate and valid government issued photo ID.

- If you are American and flying in you will need a passport.

- If you are from anywhere other than Canada and the US and planning to enter the country by any means including, but not limited to, plane, car, ultralight, junk, tallship and U-Boat, then you will need a passport.

- Finally if you are a US permanent resident driving up you will only need your green card. If, however, you choose to fly then, and only then, will you need your passport.

- A bummer to see them go, but they left two very, very excellent hardcore full-lengths in their wake. Both are available via Rivalry Records and I highly recommend them.

CRASH ROMEO “Minutes to Miles”

Every year there’s a number of releases that come out on “reputable” labels that simply make me scratch my head in wonder. Sadly, this isn’t the kind of wonder that stokes the passions of being an absolute music nerd. Rather, this is the kind of wonder that follows with the question “How on earth did [...]

Videos From The FLOORPUNCH Reunion Show

A series of videos have been posted over on the Bridge Nine board from this past weekend’s FLOORPUNCH reunion/benefit show. Bands included are HAVE HEART, BLACKLISTED, and SHIPWRECK. Just a bit of warning though – the sound quality is on par with a bowl of Rice Krispies.

Stupid Company Name Rant…

On my way to the train station tonight I walked by a tow truck emblazoned with the company name Accurate Towing. Accurate Towing?!?! Accurate in what? That they tow the right car, and the not the vehicle of some innocent chump who then has to figure out why his prized possession vanished into thin air? You’re towing something that weighs like 4000 pounds – it can’t be that hard to get right!. Stupid company name.
