THE ALMOST Album Dropping on April 3

From the inbox to your screen:

After wrapping a successful January headlining trek, THE ALMOST Рthe brainchild of UNDEROATH drummer/vocalist AARON GILLESPIE Рhave announced they’ll release their debut album Southern Weather April 3 through a first-ever joint venture with Tooth & Nail and Virgin Records. Meanwhile, the group recently shot a video in Southern California for their first single “Say This Sooner,” helmed by Shane Drake (Panic At The Disco, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus). GILLESPIE Рwho sings and performs virtually every note and instrument on his solo debut Рteamed with acclaimed producer Aaron Sprinkle to record the album. Look for THE ALMOST to tour throughout April and and early May as well as on select Warped Tour dates.

- Joint venture between Tooth And Nail and Virgin? This is interesting considering both labels are a part of the EMI system. What does it all mean?

This wasn’t exactly saying all that much as [...]

Australia’s MILES AWAY have posted an almost new song called “Brainwashed” on their myspace page. The tune was recorded for an EP that was released on their native Resist Records. The group is currently hard at work on their third full-length, which will likely see release in the U.S. on Bridge Nine.

The New York Times Discusses “Race and Indie Rock”

Today’s New York Times takes a brief look at the overwhelming whiteness of the indie rock scene and the few notable bands that feature black members. Like most Fashion & Style pieces in the New York Times, matters of fluff tend to overshadow the substantive focus of the article (Kellis sometimes sports a mohawk?!?!). Still, you can read about the term “blipster,” and a number of other popular indie rock bands and scenes who are looking to actively increase the diversity of the scene’s devotees. Check it out here.

MOROS EROS Interview @ Pastepunk

We’ve just added a pretty cool interview with Victory Records’ impressive indie-rockin’ upstarts MOROS EROS. Corey and Mark did the piece, and you can read it here.
