Revelation to release JUDGE and BOLD discographies!!

Details are sparse at the moment, but Revelation Records has announced that they will be releasing a discography from JUDGE on June 21st, with one from BOLD following shortly thereafter. Both bands have material previously released on Revelation that are long out of print. This news is hot on heels of BOLD’s annoucement last week of them reuniting for some shows, and possibly putting together a new full-length.

- Alright… if GORILLA BISCUITS gets a discography release too, I’m officially going to need a new pair of pants.

Talk on THE BRAVERY needs to cease here on Pastepunk

A second rate version of an already bad band (THE KILLERS?) should be left alone. The only band worth listening to in the dance pop genre is still HEAD AUTOMATICA.

I’m sure that posts like this only feed the hype…

…but THE BRAVERY’s track, “Public Service Annoucement” has to be one of the stupidest things that I have heard in recent memory. The band’s full-length is fun, but in the context of what Island has spent producing and marketing this thing, I’m glad it cost me nothing more than a nice lunch.

HOT HOT HEAT on The Leak

From the inbox:

HOT HOT HEAT’s new album, Elevator, can now be heard in its entirety as part of MTV.com’s The Leak. Listen to the album, which hits stores on April 5th, here.

- I just got this in the mail yesterday, and gave it a listen this morning. First impression is pretty good – the band isn’t lying when they say that they went ahead with the intention of writing a “”bold pop release.”" More than a few songs on here are potential summer hit singles…

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE “The End of Heartache”

The last memory I have of my beloved car before it was stolen in 2002 was driving home late at night on the Capital Beltway, stuck in a traffic jam, listening to KILLSWITCH ENGAGE’s newly released “Alive or Just Breathing,” at an unfathomable volume, with the two front windows rolled completely down. Although I’d love [...]

Spotlight on THE CINEMATIC UNDERGROUND/ NATHAN JOHNSON

Annasthesia is a concept album that I just recieved and had the pleasure of seeing live performed by NATHAN JOHNSON and his CINEMATIC UNDERGROUND. The album reminds me of Amnesiac era RADIOHEAD with a concept feel. The whole thing was recorded using one mic and THE CINEMATIC UNDERGROUND is composed mostly of the family Johnson. NATHAN JOHNSON also recently did the score for his cousin’s film “Brick”, which is being wide released by Focus Features soon. Please give this a listen, it blew me away. Read More + Comment (0) »

Wired Magazine reports on “The Long Tale”

“” target=”"_blank”">Here you will find an interesting article taken from Wired Magazine about the concept of a “”long tale”" in sales. In summary, the article discusses the idea of grouping items together (such as on Amazon.com when they say “”we also recommend”") enabling sales of more diverse items. Theories are being created in which musicians will be able to make a living based on this idea of a “”Long Tale.”"

- I’ve posted about this concept elsewhere, usually in regards to streaming media services like Napster and Rhapsody, where essentially, commercial dead releases are getting a shot at new life through the relatively equal footing that’s created by these services. Look for the “”long tail”" term to take on a life of its on, as more and more people come around to what it enables. – Jordan
