More on the Grokster Case

I’m surprised to see the lack of interest on other websites of this story which could be landmark in the future of music. Last week I had the amazing opportunity to meet with some of the most powerful people in music, ranging from record label execs to artists to producers, etc. All of the agreed that times are changing, and the idea of “New Media” formats is undeniably the future. Opinions from there were varied, but expect a column from myself in the near future with some of my humble opinions on the matter.

Addendum to the DARKEST HOUR news

How the hell are they going to top Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation?

Epitaph formally announces signing of SOME GIRLS

From Epitaph.com:

We are very excited to announce that Some Girls have signed to Epitaph! Some Girls is the brutal concoction of punk and hardcore mainstays Wes Eisold (American Nightmare, Give Up The Ghost), Justin Pearson (The Locust), Rob Moran (Unbroken, Over My Dead Body), Chuck Rowell (Plot To Blow Up The Eiffel Tower), and studio junkie/drummer Sal Gallegos!

The band will release it‚Äôs next full length through Epitaph, as a follow up to the upcoming E.P. The DNA Will Have It’s Say, on Three One G Records. It hits stores April 26th but you can pre-order the release now at threeoneg.com.

Jade Tree gives a roster touring update!

From the label, in an easy to read, paragraph format:

JADE TREE BANDS ON THE RUN

Ahh it’s that time of year again: The cold frost of winter begins to melt away, birds greet the morning with their glorious song, and the smell of fresh flowers is err…completely overshadowed by the stank of some touring band’s van parked in your driveway. Yes after SXSW everyone hits the road and Jade Tree has upward of 8 bands sweating the country and beyond over the next few months. STRIKE ANYWHERE hit Japan and Australia, THE LOVED ONES and THE EXPLOSION will be sharing the stage for much of May, BREATHER RESIST are headed out with noise-monkeys Melt Banana, PAINT IT BLACK will be slaying the West Coast with From Ashes Rise before getting all European, and These Arms Are Snakes will be joining Underoath for what promises to be one of the bigger tours of the year. Hot damn. Get out your flip-flops and soak it up kids, Spring has arrived!

- Speaking of PAINT IT BLACK, I just received my interview with Dan Yemin back today, and it came out great… Doing this site is 100x more enjoyable when it involves bands and people that actually have something to say that’s more than how great their manager is in getting them good opportunities. Look for the feature by the end of the week.
