ANTI-FLAG “The Terror State”

A few days ago, I was pretty sure that I wasn’t going to review “The Terror State.” I had almost decided in full that I had nothing more to add in commenting on an established band with a rabid fanbase, a slew of near-classic records, and reputation for immensely polarizing their detractors. But I wasn’t [...]

28 Syracuse, NY @ SOUND GARDEN

29 Philadelphia, PA @ REPO

30 Taunton, MA @ ALL ABOUT RECORDS

- Great concept for a tour; shouldn’t hurt soundscans either… About half of the new album sounds like REUNION SHOW songs; the rest meld huge new wave synths. For a 50 minute release, it’s definitely all over the place, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

XM radio PC hardware dies early death; piracy fears cited

Technology is Eeeeeeeeeeeevillllllll; story from CNET:

XM RADIO PULLS PC HARDWARE AMID PIRACY CONCERNS

Owners of a controversial PC radio receiver are making a killing selling their units on eBay following the unit’s discontinuation over music piracy concerns.

Before being quietly discontinued this month, the XM PCR was one of several hardware devices sold by XM Satellite Radio to give its more than 2 million subscribers satellite radio reception. In conjunction with a third-party software title called TimeTrax, however, the PCR let listeners download songs to their personal computers.

Since XM discontinued the PCR, units have fetched steep premiums on eBay. The device, which retailed for about $50, is getting bids of more than $350 in recent auctions, with sellers advertising the unit as “”discontinued”" and “”rare.”"

XM declined to confirm the discontinuation of the PCR.

Patterson said. “”It’s just a matter of policy.”"

A PERFECT MURDER – Unbroken

- The recording quality on this disc is stunning; so rare is a band’s essence captured as well as it is on here. With all the attention Victory is getting lately from their lighter fare, it would be tragic for A PERFECT MURDER to get overlooked…

It was only a matter of time before someone coined a “Get Awesome” tour…

DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN video for “Panasonic Youth.”

A million rock bands have made a standard performance “”playing in a warehouse”" video, but I bet that not one has made their video seem as intense as this! I think my fingers got tired watching the guitarists…

DAYS GONE BY “Volition”

This is the first band specific release from Hit the Pit, a well known hardcore/metal webzine, and its signing of DAYS GONE BY is a pretty strong one. These guys follow fairly straight forward from the HATEBREED school of hardcore, and infuse a interesting dose of metal a la DIECAST and FULL BLOWN CHAOS. The [...]

Two new songs from LAYMEN TERMS

Colorado’s LAYMEN TERMS have a brand new release coming out soon (9/21) called “”Driving to Nowhere: Verity’s Novel.”" In celebration, Suburban Home has added two songs to the band’s pureVOLUME site, “”Verity”" and “”Tonite.”" You can also hear “”Tonite”" on the amazing sampler that comes with the most recent issue of Law of Inertia (you know… the one with the giant pink heart on the cover). LAYMEN TERMS write great melodic rock very technical songwriting. It’s sort of like modern CAVE IN, but without the crazy atmospherics…
