SPARKS LIGHT THE FRICTION “L’homme robotik”

I’ve been looking forward for this release for quite sometime so when it arrived by surprise, I was more than giddy. SPARKS LIGHTS THE FRICTION play a heavy style of hardcore that it held together quite strongly by the best points of indierock and slighty off kilter terms of originality. In other words, their sound [...]

"We're all born to be alive!"

The above headline is perhaps my most favorite ANDREW WK quote ever. So yeah, I failed on my AWK photo mission, but it wasn't like he was hiding from anyone, as he signed autographs for about 3 hours in his booth.

Live highlights of the day for me were definitely THRICE and VAUX, the first of which totally proved that the new material sounds tremendous live, especially "Under A Killing Moon."

There were more "Trucker Hats" in the crowd today than emo glasses.

Second best quote of the day, "why are there so many shitty sounding GLASSJAW bands?"

A lot of people like Brand New. They do all have nice hats, but that's as far as it goes with me.

Did anyone notice that Face To Face was on Warped this year? Did anyone really care? I think Face To Face might be the best band that I really don't care if I ever see live.

Today's Mission:

Things I want to accomplish (or avoid) today at Warped Tour:

1. Interview with ANDREW WK.
2. Photo with ANDREW WK.
3. Watching ANDREW WK on the main stage.
4. Not having to use a port-o-potty.
5. Not getting hit by any flying objects hurled to the photo area between the barrier and the stage.
6. Not getting lost in a dust-storm and ending up in some faraway land.

From the moment this side project was announced, thousands of punk and hardcore fans have drooled of the combination of musical forces. SON OF SAM pair together Davey Havok from AFI on vox, backed by London May and Steve Zing of SAMHAIN, and Todd Youth of DANZIG. The infamous Glenn Danzig makes a guest appearance [...]

WARPED TOUR 2003 @ Nissan Pavillion, Bristow VA, 7/30/03

For Jewish kids, the Warped Tour is like Christmas in July. The level of talent playing this year’s tour is mind-boggling, and when listed out of context, the bands I decided to watch this year reads like really something special: VAUX, TSUNAMI BOMB, THRICE, GLASSJAW, ANDREW WK, BRAND NEW, RANCID, ME FIRST AND GIMME GIMMES, [...]

SKYCAMEFALLING “10.21″

Reviewing a metalcore disc is never an easy task, especially when there is considerably more hardcore than metal. SKYCAMEFALLING come close to crossing that line of undescribable – all I know is that it’s heavy, surging, poweful, and downright stomping on a few tracks, and after listening to all 63 minutes of music, I’m left [...]
