It's amazing how much going from cable modem to dial-up makes me want to avoid using a computer…

Well, I'm still alive – just out of the loop, after spending a few days away from the Internet and music in general. I recommend everyone to actually do that every now and then. Anyway, I don't really care enough at the moment to post actual news, since that would entail sorting through my inbox, so here's a recent playlist of music that's been coming from the car stereo:

PEPPER “Kona Town”

And now for something completely different: PEPPER. Okay, so maybe they aren’t completely different, but come on, how many ska/dub bands have been talked about lately in the pages of pastepunk? (almost none would be correct). This Hawaiian group undeniably has their groove on with this thirteen song festival of relaxation. “Kona Town” dropped me [...]

hey….

remember when this page used to have news and stuff posted on it?

that was awesome.

PITCH BLACK “S/T”

Somewhere between the haunted stylings of TIGER ARMY and AFI, there’s been a developing act known as PITCH BLACK. A couple of things intrigued me about this band, including the fact that it’s lead by Kevin Cross, formerly of THE NERVE AGENTS, and the band’s drummer is Jamie Morison, former skin basher of one of [...]

PEDRO THE LION “Control”

Before there’s any discussion over the music with “Control” it must be noted that the artwork is nothing short of splendid. The thick stock paper and textured look adds real weight to the release. That said, “Control” is a pretty awesome platter of music as well. The somber, thick indierock stylings of David Bazan and [...]

POP UNKNOWN “The August Division”

If you are a fan of strong, melodic, guitar-driven rock, POP UNKNOWN are pretty darn good. I wasn’t really into this release when I played it for the first time, but after a few more careful listens, there’s a few gems to be found and very tight overall package. “Hydroplane” is a seriously catchy song [...]

PREVENT FALLS “A Newer More Shattering You”

Equal Vision Records has that unique ability in that it can pull together bands of nearly all varities of hardcore and virtually none of them sound remotely like anyone else on their roster. PREVENT FALLS hail from the lovely suburbs of New Jersey and have a very hard to define style of music that varies [...]
