There's no disabled list on the PBA tour…

I've been embarrassed by a lot of things in my lifetime, but having most of the right side of my body feel completely sore after a day of bowling earlier this week, brings me to new territory. How badly in shape does one have to be to be sore after BOWLING?!?!?! Apparently I'm finding out.

Did anyone purchase the new LESS THAN JAKE "superpack" for "Anthem"? I saw one of them at Best Buy and was marveled by the concept. (Each package came with the new cd, autographed by the band, a limited DVD on the making of the disc and the video for "She's Going to Break," a black t-shirt, and LTJ trading cards.) I know these guys are all about the collectibles, so I was stoked to see them continuing it on. The only thing holding my back from picking it up was the $27.99 purchase price.

Make sure you pick up the latest issues of Wonka Vision (issue 21), with Homestar Runner on the cover. The entire issue is great, especially the in depth piece on the cartoon, and its creators.

Your local Tower Records should have it in stock, or check out Interpunk.com

Go Rueben!!!!

since Jordan mentioned the ETID "ebolarama" video…

I thought it was rather amazing myself – you can check it at ferretstyle.com. Just click on the e-card part. That whole record is going to be great.

POISON THE WELL “Tear From The Red”

Bands that pretty much help start and define a genre don’t pop-up all that often, but POISON THE WELL are one of them, and you can’t really call something “metalcore” without using them as a reference in the back of your mind. I think what made everyone go so crazy about the “Opposite of December,” [...]

PEDRO THE LION “It’s Hard to Find A Friend”

Listening to a band for the first time on re-issued material generally leaves me in an awkward reviewing position. There’s a whole lot of people who are into this band, but somehow, I’ve missed the learning curve, and “It’s Hard to Find a Friend,” is my first exposure to their sleepy, simple rock sound. It [...]

eh! steve!

everyone should hang out at Lobster Records at least once in their life. it's very nice.

PISTOL GRIP “Shots From Kalico Rose”

As the genre of punk rock has evolved overall, there’s still plenty of people out there who wish things were just like ’77, where “rock” dominanted the influences instead of metal or whatnot, and I think it’s a safe bet to declare PISTOL GRIP a group that falls into this category. Based in Los Angeles, [...]

Living It Up In NY…

Or hardly living at all. So much for my plan of daily updates. Anyway – well, as the title indicates, i'm back in NY for two weeks, enjoying some much needed time off. I've already watch two entire Mets games while home, one being thoroughly enjoyable, and the other causing me to launch multiple pieces of footwear across the living room and adding shred marks to the couch. And honestly, watching Mike Piazza's groin injury live and then seeing the dude writher on the ground was just awful. It's going to be a long, long year.

I watched Headbanger's Ball on MTV2 last night and had mixed feelings about it. While I was too young to really appreciate the first version of the 'Ball in the late 80s and early 90s, from all that I've seen, there was personality involved. Rob Zombie as host last night had all the charisma of a brown paper bag with a few bullet holes in it. Granted, the guest band was STAIND (oooooooh…), so the blandness couldn't get much worse, but there was no excitement going on. In terms of videos though, I did enjoy stuff from HAMMERFALL, DEFTONES, VOIVOD, KATACLYSM (their singer must eat people for sport), and IRON MAIDEN. I hope to see EVERYTIME I DIE's video for "Ebolarama" up there one day…

Make sure y'all pick up Epitaph's "Punk O Rama 8" on Tuesday. The double CD set is on sale at Best Buy for 4.99. I'd say that's a good deal, especially since DEATH BY STEREO has the lead song on the second disc, and there's TWO unreleased BAD RELIGION songs on there.

It's only 11:50am, but I'm totally due for a nap about now.

PULLEY “Together Again For The First Time”

Here’s something you don’t see too often, Epitaph releasing a melodic hardcore disc. Seriously, this label has diversified in so many ways, it’s truly incredible. But with “Together Again for the First Time,” the melodic hardcore sound is just as fresh and wicked as when it was first bridged together more than 20 years ago. [...]
