PREMONITIONS OF WAR “The True Face of Panic EP”

Much like UNEARTH’s four song EP, “Endless,” PREMONITIONS OF WAR’s seven song EP, “The True Face of Panic,” gets far more mileage in a short period of time than most bands can achieve during a career. Granted, these guys are certainly no UNEARTH, but still, this is some earth-shattering metalcore that shifts the scales of [...]

THE PROMISE “Believer”

I recently picked up ONE KING DOWN’s “Bloodlust Revenge” cd, because although I had the mp3s, I just felt I needed that cd in my collection. After playing it last weekend, I couldn’t believe that although the music on there is just six years old, it felt like it belonged in such an entirely different [...]

Fellow staffer, Nick "Biff" Corrado felt the wrath of bowling dominance today, after I destroyed him three games to none.

In Wednesday's pitch and putt golf outing with Punkrocks.net's Kevin Wade, Mr. Wade prevailed 82 to 87. I think par was like 38. I think I'll blame the poor performance on the stiff ocean breeze and my propensity to hit every fucking sand trap on the entire course. And oh yeah, the giant bumble bees were pretty distracting too. Did I mention Kevin played barefoot on most of the course? That's got to like disqualify him right?

AND in music news: go read punknews.org. I'm sure they have all the important stuff covered. Anyway, the BEER: THE MOVIE crew will be on Fuse's IMX on friday afternoon, 4pm I believe. Check that out and watch that damn thing when it premieres. Mr. Corrado is in said movie. LESS THAN JAKE moved almost 30,000 units in its first week for "Anthem" which is pretty great. I hope to catch them on tour sometime this summer as they never disappoint. Finally, for those curious as to when new content will return to the site, I'll back from vacation shortly and normalcy will reign by the middle of next week. I look forward to the mountain of cds awaiting in Virginia. GO NETS, GO DUCKS! (goddamn the METS suck)…

PANIC “S/T EP”

It took me about five consecutive listens before I warmed up to this EP, but I’m still not entirely hooked, and probably only a full-length will get me that far. PANIC takes an interesting approach to their hardcore, looking past the generalities of the old-school, but stopping short of adopting the current glorification of metalcore. [...]

well

Maybe if Jordan didn't change the locks on the office everytime he left town, then pastepunk could remain the thriving hive of happy worker bees even in his absence.

PLAIN WHITE T’S “Stop”

I’m under the impression that when the PLAIN WHITE T’S selected their name, they probably didn’t think they’d ever get signed to a national label – nor did they think they’d ever get stuck with such a moniker. Anyway, this Chicago based band’s debut album, “Stop” is chock full of catchy, melodic emo-rock fanfare, and [...]

PLACES TO PARK “Better Sights Were Set”

If this makes any sense at all, I think it’s safe to say that PLACES TO PARK sneaks past my radar of boring music into “the land of good” by only a hair, and only as a result of my defenses suddenly being disoriented. “Better Sights Were Set” is a strangely unaffectionate but strong release. [...]
