MIRACLE OF 86 “S/T”

After being recorded more than a year ago and being delayed and delayed, this precious piece of raw emo-rock is thankfully in my hands. Like any genre of music, hearing the same stuff over and over again (i.e. GET UP KIDS), can render it rather stale. Fortunately, THE MIRACLE OF 86 forge a beautifully urgent [...]

Days Like These MP3

Lobster Records' latest signing DAYS LIKE THESE have a new mp3 up on the Lobster site, and although it's a demo, the quality is great, and the song is far, far, far better than anything else this band has ever done. These guys appear to have ditched that cheesey pop-punk stuff for a more mature, post-hardcore kinda thing, and I'm highly impressed. Visit lobsterrecords.com and download away!

Long Island Hardcore

"Long Island's own Crime in Stereo have officially signed to Tim Ensign and Clay Weirs' fledgling start up label Brightside, a subsidiary of legendary NYHC label Blackout! Records. They will be recording shortly for a split with Kill Your Idols and expect to have a full length out this summer." A new mp3 is available at mp3.com/crime_in_stereo

These guys are pretty darn good, as I have their demo lying around Pastepunk HQ. I'm glad to see that with all the recognition that Long Island bands are getting lately, those still playing traditional, hardnosed hardcore are getting their share too.

MINUS “Jesus Christ Bobby”

In the continuing Victory experiment to put out “all sorts of wacky music,” we are now presented with MINUS, an incredibly intense modern hardcore band from Sweeden. These guys sound a ton like REFUSED, right down to the odd electronica cues, semi-radical lyrics, and bone crushing guitar licks. The bass continually makes it feel like [...]

MILLENCOLIN “No Cigar EP”

I like to think of this EP as “Pennybridge Pioneers lite,” given that it contains my favorite three tunes from MILLENCOLIN’s last (and most killer) full length. The EP also tosses in three tunes that were done in the original “Pennybridge…” recording session, as well as live versions of “Penguins & Polarbears,” and “No Cigar.” [...]

This is the one time in your whole life, Justin,

that you get to say Elvis Costello should play with Rancid without me punching you in the balls. I hope you enjoyed it.

Brand New, BRAND NEW, kinda…

Although not entirely new news, BRAND NEW's "Your Favorite Weapon" has been re-released by a joint venture between Triple Crown Records and Razor & Tie Entertainment. To celebrate, "YFW" was updated with some enhanced material, including their video for "Jude Law and the Semester Abroad." In addition, those with the cd code can connect to the web to check out some rockin' live footage and DVD outtakes (highly amusing stuff). And just in case you haven't seen this video yet for "Jude Law…" you can check it out from the link below:
