“We Played Our First Show…”
I was reading a band bio for a long-defunct hardcore band today and one of the paragraphs starts off with “We played our first show on August 2, 1997 in Norfolk Virginia. The show was with BATTERY, TEN YARD FIGHT, STRETCH ARMSTRONG, BLADE CRASHER and FOR THE LIVING…”. Heck of a start. Can you guess the band? (No cheating!).

I thought it was that band. I think I found some photos of them at George Mason with Damnation AD, darkest hour, and I think majority rule as a four peice today in a box Of old photos I took back in the day.
John – what was your band guess? Sounds like you know who it was. I was living in Maryland during those years and not yet in VA, did GMU host a lot of shows on campus?
count me out? or did they get together later than 97?
Nope, not Count Me Out, right era, shared a member too (big clue!).
Time Flies, I can’t believe that was back in 1997 ;)
I was going to school in Rochester at that point in time and would visit my family only on holiday breaks. I remember seeing The Vehical Birth, who were awesome back them. I also saw Frodus there. I can’t remember any other shows though. Again I was living out of state starting fall of 1996. I sure miss DC in those days!
Time Flies?
Yep, Time Flies. One of the first hxc bands I really got into as a new DC area resident. I was feeling a bit defensive as 18/19 year old sXe kid in a new environment and they were one of a few bands that helped me keep it together. They also had the distinction of being the only band for which I broke my glasses at a show, during their set. Long way home that night on the metro…
