Stream: CITYCOP – “Seasons” EP

- The email from the label that sent me a link to this EP left an ominous impression, “a unique blend of folk and hardcore that some have deemed ‘acoustic-core.’”. I know hardcore is a vast genre, but I suddenly had the vision of Ray Cappo doing a coffee shop version of “Break Down The Walls”. It was an unhealthy vision. But I’m willing to listen to anything, and this EP is pretty cool. It sounds like acoustic double-speed THURSDAY to me, with an eerie screamo-like element. I generally like guitar sounds to impugn the chance of cardiac arrest, instead of being tickled on the arm with a soft feather, but the music does have a sense of muted heaviness, especially on the second to last song “Fall”. Pre-orders for the vinyl version is up now via Flannel Gurl Records. Give it a whirl…
