Short Bits… and Bits and Bits and Bits

1. COMEBACK KID has posted the song “Broadcasting” from the band’s upcoming full-length with the set name. At any moment now, Victory Records will proclaim it to be the best hardcore record of 2007, 2008, and most likely 2009. Check out the rockin’ song at the band’s myspace page.

2. RUINER has finished recording their debut full-length for 1917 Records. The band was in the studio with Jim Siegel for a couple of weeks and the disc goes for mastering next week. A release date is expected close to the summer and the band has announced some tour dates in March with SINKING SHIPS.

3. Sacramento’s tech-metal group WITH PASSION will release their full-length What We See When We Shut Our Eyes in May of this year (in the US – a UK release will be in March). I got my hands on a copy of this last week and it should easily please any fan of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. A number of new songs can be heard here including the guitar-noodleriffic “Pale Horse’s Ride.”

4. Have you ever mistaken someone’s hair for a hat? I think the cold weather of late has me imagining things in the morning.

5. If you can stomach visiting MTVU.com for more than 10 seconds (and even then, that’s an accomplishment), you can head there to watch the brand new video for “Pistol,” from DUSTIN KENSRUE’s disc Please Come Home. I love the video (the harmonica neck holder is very classy), but I’m not so keen on all of the hoops you have to jump through to just watch the damn thing on MTVU, particularly the part where the site still rejects a Firefox browser. Ugh.

6. Will MAXEEN’s Hello Echo ever hit stores?

7. Issue Oriented Podcast Vol. 18 is up now. This one features interviews with Joanna Angel of Burningangel.com and the illustrious Dan Yemin. Issue Oriented remains one of the best punk/hardcore scene focused podcasts around – please give it a listen!
