Rhapsody to Get Overhaul; Portability and Free (Limited) Service to be Added

This article on CNET describes a host of announced changes for the streaming music service, Rhapsody. As a brief summary, Rhapsody will roll out a portability option similar to that of Napster to Go, which will allow transfer to files to certain WMA supported devices (no iPods… booo! this lack of interoperability can only last for so long before consumers revolt), and Rhapsody will also allow tethered downloads to one’s computer that can be to listened off-line. Additionally, and perhaps most interestingly, Rhapsody will offer a free service that will allow anyone to listen up to 25 songs per month, as a means of offering a continous trial, on the hopes that once you try it, you’ll buy it. As an extremely happy user of the service, it hope it works out.

UPDATE: I just downloaded the new software… WOW!! The interface is beautiful and already improves on top notch navigation. The tethered downloads are a piece of cake to use as well. I also just noticed that Deep Elm has a ton of releases now on the service, which is very cool. Fewer labels have such an amazing back catalog.
