For those who come here to read up on copyright law…

All two of you…

The Supreme Court of Canada reached a ruling today discussing the liability/immunity of ISPs when their customers either upload or download unlawfully shared music files across the net, and whether they owed royalties to a handful of interested copyright parties. Unlike the United States, Canada does not have similar provision to that in the DMCA that grants immunity to ISPs in such circumstances. Thankfully, the Court maintained its senses and ruled 9-0 in favor of the ISPs. The full decision is a bit long, but it expectedly deconstructs the issues in fine detail.
