Video: ANDREW W.K. – “It’s Time to Party” on Conan 8/28/12; Pizza Guitar!!!

The video embed was acting wonky, so I took it down. Check out the video here. Your life will change for the better after watching this.

Nothing Says “Save Money. Live Better” like IN THIS MOMENT

- This was the image header in a customer email from Century Media. Roll ‘em back, roll ‘em back. Hooray every day low pricing!!

Stream: THE NEW WARDEN – “Still Life”

- Energetic melodic pop-punk from Boston, reminds me a bit of THE LAWRENCE ARMS and SMOKE OR FIRE. A vibrant bass sound leaves a positive impression. The full-length will be available via CD from John Wilkes Booth Records in September.

Stream: NEW CONVERGE SONG! NEW CONVERGE SONG! NEW CONVERGE SONG!

- The song is titled “Aimless Arrow” and is the first to premier from the band’s upcoming full-length “All We Love We Leave Behind”, out on October 9th via Epitaph.I’m not sure I’ve heard a nearly three minute long song go by any quicker. An absolute ripper.

KYLESA Set to Release Rarities Collection This Fall

From the inbox:

KYLESA is set to release From The Vaults, Vol. 1, a twelve-song collection featuring unreleased, new and alternate versions of songs spanning their catalogue including one entirely new song (“End Truth”) as well as the band’s legendary cover of Pink Floyd’s “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun” on Nov. 20 (Nov. 16 in Europe).

“This project has been a labor of love,” explained guitarist/singer/producer Phillip Cope. “We have spent over a year going through old songs, covers, etc. and collected those we felt went well together; remixing and finishing them up. We didn’t want to release something just thrown together so we put a lot of thought and time into it. I am really happy about how this came together. I think it is a good representation of Kylesa’s different styles from early on to present day.”

The Savannah-based band recently wrapped up a European tour, which included stops at the Wacken Open Air and Area 4 Festivals, and will enter the studio to begin work on a new album for 2013. Kylesa’s most recent release, 2010′s Spiral Shadow, was revered by fans and critics alike as a “record that trashes everything you might expect from the genre” (Pitchfork) and is “as sweaty as a south Georgia summer” (Spin). Singer/guitarist Laura Pleasants was recently featured on the cover of Decibel Magazine’s inaugural Women in Metal issue.

Notable AOL Music / Spinner Streams

- The MORNING GLORY record is instantly likable simply because it is so original sounding, but I think I will need many more listens (beyond the two so far) to feel like I “get it”. In other news, NEW ONE MAN ARMY!!!! Looking forward to listening to the rest of these in the next day or so.

Song of the Day: I USED TO BE A SPARROW – “Give It Up”

- I USED TO BE A SPARROW are currently part of Soundsupp.ly’s “Drop #4″. I had not previously heard of this Swedish indie rock band, but fell in love with this song on first listen. It’s got a whispery vibe, but the hook is anything by gentle. You can check “Drop #4″ here.

“We Played Our First Show…”

I was reading a band bio for a long-defunct hardcore band today and one of the paragraphs starts off with “We played our first show on August 2, 1997 in Norfolk Virginia. The show was with BATTERY, TEN YARD FIGHT, STRETCH ARMSTRONG, BLADE CRASHER and FOR THE LIVING…”. Heck of a start. Can you guess the band? (No cheating!).
