Panic Records Signs CARRIDALE

From the inbox:

Panic Records is honored to announce that CARRIDALE has agreed to become a part of the Panic Records family. Carridale is a band that is so rooted in their DIY ethic, that they fit in perfectly with the attitude that all of the Panic bands share.

Since their inception in 2005, Carridale has worked relentlessly with multiple releases and countless tours under their belt. Nothing has ever been handed to Carridale and what they’ve accomplished, they’ve more than earned.

The band started as an acoustic project in the apartment of vocalist, Nathan Edwards. After 3 years of songwriting and casual acoustic shows, Nathan resolved to turn the acoustic project into a serious band. Adopting one of Nathan’s songs as the bands name (which was derived from the street name where the apartment complex that birthed the acoustic project was located on). The Carridale Street Apartment was a fun, drama-free place where the majority of the North Alabama scene would come and leave their problems at the door and just have a good time.

Fresh off a very successful tour of the UK, Carridale has returned to the United States and will be releasing their newest effort The Wandering on Panic Records via limited vinyl 7″ on July 10th, 2012.

The Wandering consists of 3 songs that paint a very promising picture of what the future holds for Carridale. Stream the EP now and then buy it now through the Carridale Bandcamp page.

- It was barely a month ago that I got my first press release on this band, which mentioned that they were shopping their new EP and hoping to sign with a label. There’s never a formula to doing so, but putting together a really, really strong three song EP doesn’t hurt. RIYL: THE WONDER YEARS, FOUR YEAR STRONG, SET YOUR GOALS.

Stream: CHANGES – “Lost at Sea” EP

- Thick, sludgy hardcore from the swamps of New Jersey (just go with it…).

Song of the Day: SHADOWS FALL – “Fire From The Sky”

- If I had written this song, I would have made it the title track to my new full-length too…

Patrick Kindlon (SELF DEFENSE FAMILY) Part II

PART TWO of an insanely long conversation with Patrick Kindlon of Deathwish artists SELF DEFENSE FAMILY. We pick up the interview during James’ withering examination of song lyrics, whether being ‘mysterious’ as a band works in the age of social networking, and generally whether or not Kindlon is an jackass who simply can’t help but crap [...]

 - Beast of a record. RIYL: RINGWORM, INTEGRITY, A389 Records…

Stream: OLDE GHOST – “If We Ever Get Out of This Alive…” EP

- Four song EP of snarling hardcore and with an occasionally crunchy post-genre vibe (“Stone Letters” has an impressive QUICKSAND influence that had me breaking out the seriously serious mid-tempo headbang). I’m a fan of the spoken/shouted style of the vocals, especially on the final track “For…”.

Stream: GIDEON – “Prodigal Son”

- Brand new song from Facedown Records’ GIDEON. The tune is from their upcoming full-length Milestone.
