Relapse Posts Entire Catalog on Bandcamp, Project Rivals The Panama Canal…

In hebrew, “gedolah” can sometimes mean the word “big”. Just saying “gedolah” creates an verbal expression of heft and importance. With that in mind, Relapse Records has created the gedolah of label Bandcamp pages, making available its large discography for full streaming (and purchase) through the service. That’s 125 titles. Gedolah. Check it here, and somebody give the person (people?) that it together a pre-Summer bonus. Here’s a selection from DISFEAR…

Stream: HIGHWAY CROSS – “Locked In” EP

- Super solid EP of punk rock with the instantly noticeable ‘DC’ post-hardcore/post-punk influence, which is no surprise as the band includes ex-members of MAJORITY RULE and HARAM. The 7″ is now available for purchase from the Dischord Records online store.

Stream: RUSS RANKIN – “American Amnesia”

- I think I just had a flashback to the feeling I first had in hearing Chuck Ragan or Dustin Kensrue on their debut solo output. I’m waiting for the disconnect to go away, but I’m more than happy to hear Russ’ voice again. “Farewell Catalonia” is out on August 7th, via Paper + Plastick.

Stream: GATES – “You Are All You Have Left To Fear”

- Stream the band’s new six song release. Powerful indie/emo tunes that have plenty of nuance, but don’t get tangled in their own intricate webs.

Stream All of WHITE LUNG’s “Sorry”

Venerable Exclaim magazine is streaming the brand new full-length from Deranged Records’ WHITE LUNG. Sorry is their second full-length and arrives almost exactly two years since the release of their S/T debut LP. The 19 minute slasher is a deceptively melodic  blast of manic guitar energy and my favorite record of the year thus far. Every song is great. Seriously. Check it out here.

UK Crust/Punk band DEVIATED INSTINCT Debut Song From Upcoming EP

From the inbox:

After 22 years of deafening silence, UK crust punk godfathers DEVIATED INSTINCT have returned with a vengeance! The influential outfit just came off a decimating appearance at Maryland Death Fest X, and are on the road with labelmates and like-minded punx DRESDEN. Look for them at the Chaos in Tejas festival as well! Profane Existence are honored to present the band’s first brand new recording in decades – a four-track EP entitled Liberty Crawls to the Sanctuary of Slaves. The record will be released on various formats on June 10, 2012 and include a download card which includes a track from the same recording session for their split 7″ with SUMMON THE CROWS available on Nakkeskudd Plater, plus a special bonus track and full release artwork and booklet/lyrics. The 12″ EP is pressed onto audiophile 180 gram black vinyl @ 45rpm for a full fat sound, and is limited to 300 copies. In keeping with the heavier black vinyl the artwork has been tweaked to give the sleeve a darker, more foreboding aura.

DEVIATED INSTINCT formed in 1984 and were a crucial pioneering band in the early British punk/metal scene. Along with bands like Antisect and Amebix, DI’s music has influenced legions of bands and helped to define the sound we know today as “crust”. Their long-awaited return, Liberty Crawls to the Sanctuary of Slaves, is everything fans have come to expect and more. This album features four songs of epic proportions that deftly bridge the gap between d-beat style crust and heavy metallic doom.

Stream: SET ME FREE – “Walkin’ The Line”

- Italian straight-edge hardcore with a strong youth-crew influence. The band recently released a split EP with MOTIVATION via Honest for Truth Records.

AGNOSTIC FRONT To Play “Live At CBGB’s” at CBGB Music Festival

From the inbox:

Hardcore punk icons AGNOSTIC FRONT will play the exact same set from their classic live album Live at CBGB’s during their upcoming performance at the CBGB’s Music Festival. The show will take place on July 5th at the Webster Hall in NYC.

“We are very excited to be performing on the opening night of the CBGB’s Music Festival in NYC,” commented vocalist Roger Miret. “We are wrapping up shows on our 30 Year Anniversary Tour and we are performing the classic Live at CBGB’s set list from the 1989 iconic release! We have been invited to join this festival for their biggest opening night at the monumental Webster Hall club. We are very excited to have landed a great homecoming show in our celebration as a band for 30 years. And to top it all off, we are doing this nostalgic gig with our brothers MADBALL. I hear there will be 2 more exciting bands to be added to this line-up. Come on out and share our celebration in this Hardcore World and get ready for another Live at CBGB’s performance!”

- Objectively, can anyone quantify whether there’s simply more nostalgia-related events/activities/releases going on this year than in other years, by a lot? No? Okay, nevermind…
