TITLE FIGHT Detail Headlining Tour For May/June

From the inbox:

TITLE FIGHT have just announced plans for their first North American headlining tour. The four piece outfit will hit the road in support of the upcoming SideOneDummy debut, Shed (out May 3rd).

Produced by GORILLA BISCUITS/QUICKSAND songwriter Walter Schreifels, Shed sees the band showing their love of melodic hardcore acts like LIFETIME but placing them in a new context that makes these twelve energetic anthems instant classics.

The tour will showcase an exciting and diverse line up of bands that include TOUCHE AMORE, THE MENZINGERS, DEAD END PATH, and a few dates with SHOOK ONES. “We are happy to be able to share this tour with these bands as we feel they incorporate different aspects of music we all love and are great at what they do” said Ned from Title Fight when asked about the tour.

Tour dates are after the jump…

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME Sign With Metal Blade

From the inbox:

Celebrated progressive rock / cutting-edge metal band BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME (also BTBAM) has inked a worldwide recording deal with Metal Blade Records. The award-winning North Carolina quintet will kick off the partnership with the April release of its new album The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues.

“We are delighted in the opportunity to join the Metal Blade family,” commented BTBAM guitarist Paul Waggoner. “Their commitment to heavy music over the years is inspiring and we look forward to becoming a part of the ever-growing legacy of the label. Our new release, titled The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues will hit the streets in April. We are confident that our dedicated fans will appreciate it and hopeful that we will gain the attention of some new ears as well. In closing, I’d like to reference a quote from the illustrious Joe Dirt: “Life’s a garden, dig it.”

A 30 second clip of new music from the band has landed on YouTube.

Two Quick Reviews!!

CHIXDIGGIT! – Safeways Here We Come (Fat Wreck): There’s a singular phrase in the promo sheet for this seven song MCD/12″ that really says everything you need to know about CHIXDIGGIT – “unforgettable melodies”. While one wouldn’t work without the other, the band’s style of mid-to-blazin’ pop-punk is dominated by a kind of high-pitch vocals that turn the band’s clever lyrical word play into songs that sit two decks up from the outfield wall of catchiness. Never a band to take itself too serious, the 44 second “Hot N Horny” is perfectly juvenile while opener “Miso Ramen” reminds you of what SCREECHING WEASEL was like before Ben got old and cranky. CHIXDIGGIT are the kind of band that could make sitting in traffic an enjoyable activity if it’s their music on the stereo.

MOTHER OF MERCY – IV: Symptoms of Existence (Bridge Nine): Although they are one of Bridge Nine’s lower profile bands, their sound is a lot closer to the label’s hardcore roots than most might realize. The group’s metallic sound is partly rooted in mid-90s crunch and reminds me a lot of bands that came around after the Victory Records dominated sound of that time, sort of a post-EARTH CRISIS, ANOTHER VICTIM, BLOODLET kind of thing. Symptoms rarely has a song that pushes more than 2:30, and the vocals are pure guttural howl and shout. The band’s sound is caustic and reckless, but the pro recording style gives it plenty of modern polish. Fans of 108, early HOPE CON and all things mid-90s have a lot to like with MOTHER OF MERCY.

Spotlight On: DRE CARLIN

After all that noisy tech-metal in the last post, here’s a healthy switching of the gears. DRE CARLIN describes himself as featuring “straight-forward acoustic guitars with punk influenced flourishes”. A four song EP has just been posted on Bandcamp, which includes an AT THE DRIVE-IN cover (“Cosmonaut”). As for comparisons, I kinda hear THE PALE and some early BRIGHT EYES. Carlin’s voice has a bit of trembling to it, but in a convincing and not fake manner. Check it out.

Spotlight On: BEAST

Short and simple: Sweden’s BEAST tackle early 80s thrash with elements of garage punk. A throwback sound for sure, not unlike the first couple of EARLY MAN releases. Four songs in under 10 minutes, take a listen!
