From the inbox:

A Short Collection Of Short Songs, the newest 7″ release from Cincinnati, Ohio’s MIXTAPES is now available for pre-order from Animal Style Records.

Limited to a pressing of 500 on three colorways (orange / yellow mix, lime green, electric blue), the vinyl will see an official street date of November 30, 2010. A Short Collection Of Short Songs is perhaps Mixtapes’ strongest material to date, featuring six tracks of highly infectious, perfectly blended power pop and gritty punk rock. This tasty slab of plastic offers no shortage of dueling boy / girl vocals, buzzing guitars and sweet harmonies. You can stream the single “I’m Like” on Mixtapes’ MySpace page, or you can grab the mp3 version via Tweet for a Track.

- Band keeps growing and growing. Make sure you grab the free downloads of their earlier EPs on their MySpace page.

KILLING THE DREAM – “Lucky Me”

When I think of Lucky Me, I think that it’s gotten a little more dramatic than KILLING THE DREAM’s previous releases. That’s not a bad evolution. There’s singing, yes, but it makes sense within the context of the songs the vocal technique is employed in. Aside from a deliciously abrupt ending and the singing, Lucky Me [...]

Notable AOL / Spinner Streams

AS THEY SLEEP – Dynasty (Impressive, gruff metalcore featuring classic Solid State run-you-over production)

OFF! – First Four EPs (All 16 sixteen songs from the Keith Morris lead punk rock supergroup… so much hype, so much delivery)

KILLING JOKE – Absolute Dissent (First new album from the reunited original line-up in 28 years)

WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH – “MMX”

MMX, the latest full-length from German metal/deathcore band has all the warm and loving comfort of a bronchial spasm with your lungs dancing to an electric boogaloo. Linear, WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH are not. Normally, I’m not so hung up on matters of tempo and quick-footed changes associated therewith, but mangled railroad tracks are smoother [...]

Song of the Day: TRANSIT – “Our New Year”

Rough Mix of New CAPITAL Song Surfaces!

Long Island hardcore band CAPITAL have put up a rough mix of their new song “Three Weeks In The Desert” on their Facebook page. The group’s third full-length is forthcoming and was mixed by PROPAGANDHI’s Chris Hannah.

Spotlight On: AS THEY SLEEP

Solid State artists AS THEY SLEEP have five songs from their upcoming full-length Dynasty streaming on their MySpace page. The release hits stores on November 22nd (a Monday?!?). The band will support their Solid State Records debut on the road this December, as part of the “Solid State Records: A Very Metal Christmas Tour”, alongside label-mates LIVING SACRIFICE, BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE, and TO SPEAK OF WOLVES.

- A lot of work must have went into fashioning the band’s logo, which is equal part “ultra metal” and “professional graphic designer”. Well done, well done.
