New (Free) Deep Elm Label Sampler

From the inbox:

Now with over 170 albums in its catalog, Deep Elm Records presents a global music delivery: The World Won’t Spin Forever. 15 songs including music by Cari Clara, Goonies Never Say Die, Athletics, The Sky Life, This Drama, The Lions Ramnpant, Summer Hours, Last lungs, Les Sages, Dorena, Moonlit Sailor, Carly Comando, She Bears, I Am Sonic Rain… a track from nearly every new release in our 2010-11 catalog.

We see our label being about people coming together, meeting, singing and sharing that experience with each other…those are the times that we remember forever. It’s about the power of music and the bands that create it. It’s about glory, not gold.

Download the high-quality sampler here. You can also stream it below via Bandcamp.

Release of the Day: FISHERKING – “Forget It” EP

Bermuda-Mohawk Productions doesn’t often stray into the hardcore arena (or basically at all), but the label wisely took the plunge on Lansing, Michigan’s FISHERKING, who have put together a raging six song hardcore EP titled Forget It. RIYL: SHUTDOWN, ALLEGIANCE, COMEBACK KID. You can stream the whole thing on their Bandcamp page and pick it up there as well for a mere $5.

Bridge Nine Mystery Box Arrives

I’m not gonna lie, I’m almost always bummed with the results of purchasing label-specific mystery boxes. I know this going into the purchase, well aware of the needs of many labels wanting to do something creative to get rid of their overstock… and often, I already have that overstock from Pastepunk coverage. But Bridge Nine is a label that oozes credibility and having purchased one of their boxes before (with moderate satisfaction), I could readily justify the $23 (including shipping) to roll the dice in 2010. How do you think I did?

What’s in the box?

  • 1. Bridge Nine t-shirt (in a size that I can wear, natch…)
  • 2. HAVE HEART – Sound and Fury 2007 7″ (wheeee!)
  • 3. Bridge Nine 2009 12″ Label Sampler compilation (wheeee?)
  • 4. FAREWELL HOPE – One More Day into a Memory CD (Pre-RUINER band, released in 2002)
  • 5. CEREMONY poster with digital download link to Bridge Nine 2010 digital sampler
  • 6. Assorted stickers

This Is Why People Like Run For Cover Records

Of the many inspiring, musically-impressive new labels to hit the scene over the past few years, few have glowed as bright as Run For Cover Records. The label, which is recognized as still being an austere operation despite its 20+ releases, has gracefully dealt with record leaks and growing pains with the kind of poise that larger labels never seemed to contemplate. If you need any further proof of this, and the label’s smart instincts in cultivating  a following, read this message board post from label owner Jeff Casazza about the new TIGERS JAW full-length, Two Worlds:

“There is a really low quality, unmastered version of Two Worlds slowly making it around a few blogs. PLEASE do not download that version. I uploaded the mastered version to Waffles, so if you’re not going to buy the record no matter what, please don’t get stuck listening to an unmastered version of the record. With that said, Two Worlds is now available on bandcamp for $8 in any file format you’d ever want. - runforcoverrecords.bandcamp.com

6131 Records Expands Again, Signs MAKER

From 6131 Records:

Having been a fan of Springfield, MA’s MAKER for a while now we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to 6131 Records. Maker formed in 2007, but after the self release of A Place To Call Home in late 2008 things started to take off for the band. Since then Maker has done two full US tours, four east coast tours, released the EP I-91 on Either/Or Records and Animal Style Records, and most recently a split 7” with The Story So Far on Pure Noise, and that’s just the beginning. Come January 2011 Maker will embark on another full US tour, and upon returning home they’ll finish writing and head to the studio to record their debut LP for 6131 Records coming next summer. Needless to say, we’re all so excited to have them on board.

CIRCA SURVIVE Debut New Song From EP

Not even a year since the release of their Blue Sky Noise full-length, CIRCA SURVIVE is set to release a new five song EP titled Appendage on November 30th. The tracks were recorded during the Blue Sky Noise sessions, but the band told Spin.com that the songs were definitely not throwaway b-sides that we’re not good enough to make it onto the full-length. You can check out the song “Stare Like You’ll Stay” here.
