Video: THE STORY CHANGES – “Move Forward”

- Super memorable power-pop music. Reminds me a lot of HOT ROD CIRCUIT. I’m not sure the video makes much sense, but just watching it makes me want to sing along to the chorus. Look for the band on tour in late November, early December with HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS.

ENERGY Posts Second Song From New EP

“Spooky” hardcore/punk band ENERGY have posted “Let’s Get Away,” the second of three songs from their upcoming EP Walk Into The Fire. You can stream it on their Tumblr page.

We’re mere days away from everyone’s favorite bearded drunkstravaganza, THE FEST 9. Video: THE WAIT – “Speaking of Irish”

- (1) Props the guy in the Mets hat; (2) Solid pop-punk with a just a little bit of hardcore influence for extra seasoning. A bunch of these guys were in the NJ melodic hardcore band ENDGAME and you can still here some of that in here; (3) Who’s the guy with the shaved head that sings along at the end? Dude is into it… looks like he’s actually sweating in a music video…

Notable New* Full-Length Streams

- Spinner is actually streaming all of BAD RELIGION’s full-length releases as well as some of their earliest EPs. After the band disowned “Into the Unknown” for so long, it’s pretty cool to see them finally embrace it and to even allow it to be streamed some 27 years after its initial release. Its as polarizing a release as ever, but it’s worth listening to at least once. I can’t say enough good things about the new TWO COW GARAGE (okay, that’s not true, I’ll have a glowing review coming soon), so it’s rad to see that up on Spinner as well. The new SENSES FAIL sounds a lot like recent SENSES FAIL. Not a bad place to be in, even though it is about as stylistically diverse as a new HATEBREED record…

Spotlight On: MIRACLE MAX

Young Seattle pop-punkers MIRACLE MAX assemble a catchy mix on their new EP Self-Absorbed. These guys remind me a lot of the pop-punk with occasional keyboards that dominated Drive Thru Records in the early 2000s. Anything from MIDTOWN, HELLO GOODBYE, and WEEZER can be found on here, and not with much redundancy either. The five song EP can be streamed below or downloaded via Bandcamp.

Video: THE FLATLINERS – “Monumental”

Spotlight On: FACEBREAKER

Swedish death metal band FACEBREAKER have seen their latest full-length, Infected, get an upcoming US release through Metal Blade Records’ new venture with Cyclone Empire. A new song titled “Bloodlust” is streaming on the band’s MySpace page. Despite my appreciation for things that thrash, Infected earns high marks for not having any trace of thrash at all. Played mostly in mid-tempo with an extra emphasis on pure evil guitars and growling, FACEBREAKER just kind of crawl under your skin and chomp away.
