The CD/2xLP hits stores on September 9th via No Idea Records.

- “Capsized” > greatness…

Song of the Day: BOYSETSFIRE – “Walk Astray”

- From “The Misery Index: Notes From the Plague Years”. Classic BOYSETSFIRE… quiet, slow-build intro… mammoth launching pad of heaviness and sing your stomach out catchiness. I really miss this band… THE CASTING OUT isn’t cutting it.

DEVIL’S BRIGADE – “S/T”

It was only a matter time before a Matt Freeman focused side-project. Given the nature of RANCID as a band embracing a family/gang perspective, and with solo projects already in the books for Tim and Lars, Matt’s ticket was ready to be punched. Making its first appearance some eight years ago on a Give ‘Em [...]

Bursts of Thought!!!

1. We’re back after a few days of quiet vacation in the mountains of upstate New York. In case anyone is wondering, when you’re driving through the rural backroads of northern Pennsylvania, and you come across a sign that says “Bridge Out,” they ain’t kidding!

2. Hawaii reggae/ska rockers PEPPER are putting out a new five song EP this October on their own LAW Records. Two new songs are posted on their MySpace page. These songs will instantly put you into a state of relaxation and give you a compulsive desire for a cocktail…

3. Double Cross webzine has posted two great interviews in the past few days: a Part II piece with Bridge Nine’s Chris Wrenn, and a Part I entry with TERROR frontman Scott Vogel. Give them a read.

4. Michigan deathcore band ARBITER have debuted a couple of new songs on their MySpace page from their full-length Colossus. The young band draws comparisons to bands like VEIL OF MAYA, GLASS CASKET, and CARNIFLEX.

5. Josh Homme named his label Rekords Rekords. Dumb. Not so dumb is the label’s upcoming re-release of the first QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE album, in early December, on both vinyl and CD.

6.  After some technical difficulties and an upgrade, the Livewire Message Board is back up and running. No word yet on the upgrade of attitudes from the many 40 year old + hardcore dudes who will take pains to remind you that everything was better before 1986…

7. FULL BLOWN CHAOS will stage their music recording return for January 2011 with the release of a new full-length on Ironclad Recordings. It will be the band’s first swipe of new music since their 2007 Ferret Records full-length Heavy Lies The Crown. The band is back to a five piece, and according to a press release, they are “writing with a more prevalent sound.” I have no idea what that means.

CALEB LIONHEART – “Climbing Up A Mountain Just For The View” EP

With an opening sample from Dr. Martin Luther King, I thought for a minute that I had accidentally slipped a GOOD RIDDANCE release into my stereo. No matter, CALEB LIONHEART take the poignant moment and run with it right into a verse that asks, “Did you hear that Disney bought Coney Island?” Now that’s how [...]

STAND UNITED Debut New Song “Adherence”

Iowa straight-edge metal/hardcore band STAND UNITED have posted the title track for their upcoming debut full-length Adherence on their MySpace page. The Eulogy band will be joining labelmates DONNYBROOK on the “Built On Struggle” tour alongside CALL TO PRESERVE and headliners LIONHEART in September and October.

Video: VICTORV Ep. 61 (COMEBACK KID, WITHIN THE RUINS, MICK FOLEY)

- I haven’t posted embeds of any of the earlier VicTorV episodes, but this one was hard to pass up on it. Hosted by wrestling legend Mick Foley, the program features interviews and videos with COMEBACK KID, WITHIN THE RUINS, along with content from THE AUTUMN OFFERING, and CLOSE YOUR EYES. I highly recommend picking up the new COMEBACK KID and WITHIN THE RUINS releases, which hit stores next week.
