Vinyl Collective Runs Huge “We Only Have One Copy Left” Sale

Our friends at Vinyl Collective are having some fun with their inventory, and by having fun, I mean trying to move the one single copy that is left for some 750 titles. The sale price is 35% which puts them at cost or in some cases, even lower. You can check out the huge list of titles and the rest of the details here.

HERO DESTROYED Recording Debut Full-Length

From the inbox:

Pittsburgh, PA’s HERO DESTROYED will enter the studio this weekend to begin work on their debut full-length. The band is recording with engineer Dave Watson at Soundscape Studios in McKeesport, PA. The album is tentatively titled Throes and will see a summer 2010 release date (Relapse Records). Additional album details will be announced shortly.

HERO DESTROYED recently posted a demo track, “The Last Upper”, from the forthcoming album on their MySpace page.

- If these guys had the chance to play with HIS HERO IS GONE, who should have the right-by-name to play last?

Reaper Records Auctions Rare Vinyl To Pay Down Debt

In a scenario that I’ve been seeing more of lately, New York hardcore label Reaper Records is auctioning off a number of its rare test presses and ultra-limited color vinyl pieces to help pay off some pressing plant debt. The most sought after items are from bands such as TERROR, TRAPPED UNDER ICE, FORFEIT, and MAXIMUM PENALTY. Check it out here.

- … and if you’re not into rare items, I highly recommend picking up TRAPPED UNDER ICE’s full-length, Secrets of the World.

Editorial Content / News Bits

1. Stereogum has the exclusive showing of BIG BUSINESS’ new video for the song “The Drift.” Awkward heaviness and fake mustaches go hand in hand.

2. Reunited 108 have made available the first new song from their upcoming full-length 18.61 (Deathwish). The bruising, metallic hardcore jam, “Forever Is Destroyed” can be found here.

3. If you’re in need of a bit of pop-culture and want to make a donation for benefit Haiti, the digital compilation “Hope For Haiti Now” is selling like wildfire and priced at only $7.99 via Amazon MP3.

4. 50 LIONS’ Where Life Expires was a late entry in the US in 2009, but the Aussie hardcore band is destined to make a bigger footprint in 2010 with Six Feet Under Records seriously pushing it in 2010. These guys do a deceptively simple take on the genre – think of TERROR without the metal or early SICK OF IT ALL. Short songs, but long on groove and attitude. I enjoy this more with each listen.

“Under The Influence Vol. 13″ To Include FALLEN FROM THE SKY / THE WONDER YEARS

From Suburban Home Records:

We are excited to announce the thirteenth release of our “Under the Influence” series. The series finds bands we love recording songs that have influenced their song writing. The artwork has been put together by the very talented Mitch Clem and Nation of Amanda who have been asked to make their own renditions of the album art that the song being covered originally appeared. For this thirteenth release, FALLEN FROM THE SKY cover “This Is A Call” by FOO FIGHTERS and THE WONDER YEARS cover “Zip Lock” by LIT. The 7″s will come with a coupon that will allow you to download the tracks as mp3s. Pressing info and Pre-order date will be announced soon. We expect to have this release out by the middle of March.

Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 are all out of print (some copies are still circulating at various distros). Volumes 5, 6, and 7 will soon be out of print. Volumes 1-10 will be compiled as a limited edition CD pressing. Mitch Clem is currently working up a few ideas for the cover art for the compilation. Listen to the tracks from the first 12 volumes and view all the amazing art on the Under the Influence page we have set up. Although a number of the 7″s are out of print, you can still find the digital tracks on your favorite digital site (Itunes, Emusic, Amazon, and through our store).

- Possibly and probably the first and only time in my life I will show mild interest in a LIT song. LIT?!? Really?!? LIT…? LIT…..?

MY TURN TO WIN – “No Challenge”

I’ve been biased over the years against the EP. Part of that has been out of sheer financial prudence – purchasing a four or five song CD for $7.99 in a store never seems liked a smart decision (with rare exception). But the dramatic shift to (lower priced) sales in digital form has made this [...]

BONDED BY BLOOD Set To Record New Thrashterpiece…

From the inbox:

BONDED BY BLOOD will be heading into the studio next week to record the long-awaited follow-up to their 2008 debut, Feed The Beast. On February 1st, the young thrash disciples will begin their sessions in Phoenix, AZ to record their new album at Highland Recorders. They will later migrate to nearby Stealth Sound for additional work. Producing the record will be Ralph Patlan (WHITE WIZZARD, MEGADETH, UFO).

The members of BONDED BY BLOOD cannot wait to show the world how much of a step forward they’ve made with their new material. According to frontman, Jose “Aladdin” Barrales, “the album is a bit more thought out than our prior attempt.” Guitarist, Alex Lee adds, “this album is a lot more technical and heavier than our previous.”
