Spotlight On: THE ARTERIES

UK pop-punk band THE ARTERIES are a throwback to the speedy mid-90s sounds of like-minded groups MILLENCOLIN, TURTLEHEAD, and NO FUN AT ALL (I guess I’m on a Sweden kick today…). The band will be releasing an LP in the US on Black Numbers in early November titled Blood, Sweat, and Beers. Several new songs from the band can be heard on their MySpace page.

SAKES ALIVE!! Heading To Fest 8; Video Included

Issue Oriented has helped put together video of SAKES ALIVE!! and their trek from Rochester NY, to Gainesville, FL for Fest 8.  You can check out the first video in the series here. I-95 will be upping the punx this weekend on the east coast…

REFUSE RESIST Post Song From Upcoming Full-Length “Socialized”

Recent Thorp Records signees REFUSE RESIST have made available the song “Middle America” from their upcoming full-length, Socialized. Lead singer Shawn Refuse had this to say about the album’s title, and theme:  “We are very excited about the new release. It’s called Socialized because it’s obvious that social networks are taking over our lives and becoming the drug of choice for people everywhere, myself included. While we wouldn’t exist without them – we found each other on MySpace – they really do take up too much time in our lives. What ever happened to going out to shows, hanging out and meeting people for real? You can download the new song here (and then go tweet about…).

SHOOK ONES Post “Teaser” Video…

Emphasis on “teaser” ….

The full video for “Silverfish,” from The Unquotable A.M.H. should be available soon.

Paper + Plastick Offers Free Download Today of FAREWELL CONTINENTAL EP

From the inbox:

Excited about FAREWELL CONTINENTAL’s video for the single “Do You Wanna Tangle?” being featured on FUSE.TV’s “The Worm,” Paper + Plastick Records is offering the group’s debut for free download today only, from noon to midnight (EST). Check out the video here and download the album here.

Influenced by bands such as Pavement, Velocity Girl, Swervedriver, and The Pixies, Farewell Continental’s s/t EP is nod to 90’s shoe-gaze indie rock, and was recently released by Paper + Plastick on a 7” double sided square picture disc

THE EMPIRE SHALL FALL (ex-KILLSWITCH ENGAGE) Post New Song “Awaken”

THE EMPIRE SHALL FALL, the latest band involving former KILLSWITCH ENGAGE/SEEMLESS frontman Jesse Leach, have made available the new song “Awaken” on their MySpace page. The group plays a form of highly melodic metallic hardcore, with Leach’s oversized, booming vocals leading the way. A debut full-length will see its release on November 17, courtesy of guitarist Nick Sollecito’s own label, Angel Side Side Records.

New Music From A THOUSAND PAPER CRANES

TRANSIT tipped off this Boston area melodic punk/indie band via MySpace, and I think they were on to something. The four piece has two songs streaming, “Sweeper,” and “One of the First,” and I think they share influences from early HOT ROD CIRCUIT, FAIRWEATHER, and probably with some clouded judgment, the band that put together the aforementioned bulletin… Good stuff!

Release of the Day: THE LAWRENCE ARMS – “Buttsweat and Tears”
