Release of the Day: DEAR LANDLORD / CHINESE TELEPHONES Split EP

- DEAR LANDLORD’s debut full-length, Dream Homes (No Idea), has been (rightfully) drawing a buzz with its ultra-infectious SCREECHING WEASEL influenced pop-punk. The group though isn’t a brand new creation, and one of their earliest releases is an underrated split with CHINESE TELEPHONES, which you can handily stream above. The group features two members of the prolific pop-punk group, THE COPYRIGHTS, and hopefully the new-found popularity of the former, won’t dampen the efforts of the latter…

New Demos From BIG IF (YELLOWCARD, REEVE OLIVER)

Ryan Key and Sean O’Donnell, from YELLOWCARD and REEVE OLIVER, respectively, have made available some new demo recordings for their BIG IF band. You can check out all four new songs on the duo’s MySpace page.  No formal release has been set for the songs, and the band remains unsigned.

CONDITIONS Posts New EP On PureVOLUME

Richmond, VA melodic rockers CONDITIONS have put up their new EP You Are Forgotten for streaming on pureVOLUME. The six song release was produced by Paul Leavitt (ALL TIME LOW, THE DANGEROUS SUMMER), and is available for download via iTunes.

- This is really, really good, especially “Born Again Question.” Kind of like a more streamlined THRICE (non-metal years), with bits of SAOSIN and MOMENTS IN GRACE. I’m sold.

Stream: ACHILLES – “Hospice”

- Nearly two years after its CD release on Hex Records, Hospice is now getting the vinyl treatment via Farewell Party Records. Pre-orders of the vinyl will be up on vinylcollective.com on Thursday. This is an absolutely phenomenal slab of moderately technical hardcore, and I imagine the vinyl version will sound fantastic.

Warbird Signs DEAD CITY DREGS

From the inbox:

Warbird Entertainment is extremely proud to announce yet another band to join the label – St. Louis, MO’s DEAD CITY DREGS! The band is scheduled to release a split 7″ with SUBWASTE later this year. This is not only the band’s first release on Warbird but it’s also the label’s first ever vinyl release! Expect some awesome tunes and colored vinyl everyone! The band is also getting geared up to release a full length album in 2010.

- Quality punk rock in the vein of stuff from the Dirtnap Records roster, or bands like THE BRIGGS, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS, and the SPENT IDOLS.

Chunksaah Announces Benefit Auction for Rich Cunningham

From the inbox:

Rich Cunningham formed Happy Days Records in 1995, releasing debut records by Hot Water Music and Ink & Dagger, as well as titles by Endeavor, Times Up, and Human Remains. In 2000 he formed New Labor, an alternative model of worker organization that combines new and existing strategies to improve working conditions and provide a voice for low-wage, young, immigrant workers in central New Jersey. In 2005 Rich was diagnosed with cancer and recently his battle has taken a turn for the worse. Chunksaah Records and The Bouncing Souls will be auctioning off rare records, vinyl test pressing, limited poster prints, Bouncing Souls tickets, and anything else we think will help raise money for our friend. Video: AUGUST BURNS RED – “Meddler”

- The field that the band’s playing on remains strangely unaffected. Cool video nonetheless. The band’s latest (and greatest) full-length, Constellations, is out now.
