Release of the Day: THISYEARSMODEL / HOT ROD CIRCUIT – Split EP

- Quietly released on Reignition Records in 2001, this featured one band on the fast track – HOT ROD CIRCUIT, and one band that had a lot of friends in the right places (especially being ex-SONS OF ABRAHAM), but never broke out from their Long Island/NYC base. None of the four songs are the best material from each respective band, but all of them capture the new brand of emo/rock that reaching an apex between 2001-2003.

THRICE Debut New Song; Intentionally.

THRICE has posted the song “All the World is Mad” on their MySpace page, from their brilliant upcoming full-length Beggars. This is the first new song made available by the band from the release after a beeped promo version of Beggars leaked almost two weeks ago. The album will see a digital only release on August 11th via iTunes, and a more comprehensive CD (and probably vinyl) release will come in the Fall.

- I’m all over the song “Doublespeak” on Beggars. I just get this GUNS N ROSES blues/rock vibe with it, channeled through the vision of Vheissu. Can’t stop listening to it.

Equal Vision Signs LIFE ON REPEAT

The Eastern Shore of Maryland is known for Ocean City, crab cakes, chicken farms, former Pastepunk writer Tami Ryan, and maybe sometime in the future, LIFE ON REPEAT. The five-piece pop-rock band from Salisbury, Maryland (formerly known as AMEN. THE ANIMAL), has inked a deal with Equal Vision and will be heading into the studio soon to record a digital EP with producer Brian McTernan. Several songs from the band’s earlier material are currently streaming on MySpace. Fans of TAKING BACK SUNDAY and THE SLEEPING will probably find a lot to like with these guys.

Fuel TV Catches Up With CAVE IN

Fuel TV chatted with the fellas of CAVE IN during the band’s recent reunion show, their first in almost four years. Things appear to be getting busy again at camp CAVE IN. Hydra Head just released a four song 12″ EP titled Planets of Old, which features the band getting reacquainted with their earlier, screamier years (think Until Your Heart Stops — they even use the old band logo!), and in the interview with Fuel, the group discusses future shows in the Fall as well as plans for more new recordings. Check it all out here.

THE BOUNCING SOULS Take Their Boogie Woogie Downtown…

New Jersey punk rock legends THE BOUNCING SOULS have posted the next song in their year-long one-track-per month offering. You can stream the charming tune “Boogie Woogie Downtown,” on the band’s Facebook page. The other seven songs from 20 Year Anniversary are available for streaming as well.

DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR – “Better Ways To Die”

Better Ways To Die is defined by what it is not. Specifically, it is not another heartless metallic hardcore release with endless breakdowns, and no substance to back up the band’s reason for existing. Plenty of this was displayed on the band’s prior full-length, Count Me In, but overall, it was predictable for genre, despite [...]

What Happens When You Have A Tour “Off Date” Show in Montana…

A member of a band currently on the $10 for $10 tour recently had the following to say about an off date show the band was doing between stops: “Billings Montana. Just had the most underwhelming $15 shrimp lo mein and I’m about to hit the stage for 5 kids and 7 bar patrons. I hope some redneck throws a bottle at me during the first song and cuts our set short.” Ouch.
