KAY KAY AND HIS WEATHERED UNDERGROUND “S/T” Stream

- This previously digital and vinyl only release is now getting the full CD treatment courtesy of Suburban Home Records. The group features ex-members of GATSBY’S AMERICAN DREAM and sounds like a strange 70s airport lounge act, but with extra tuba.

BERGRAVEN Stream New Hydra Head Release

Sweden’s one-man black metal project BERGRAVEN (which translates to ‘Mountain Raven’) is about to release his new album Till Makabert Väsen (which roughly translates to ‘To The Macabre Guard’) on Hydra Head. I would encourage all of your to go check the spookiness out here…IF YOU DARE!!!

Spotlight On: YOUR DEMISE

The UK’s YOUR DEMISE are new signees to Earache Records. The group comes armed with uber-heavy style of hardcore that ought to please the pit-boss masses, and a slight twist on things with some drum n’ bass mixed on a few songs. The band’s debut full-length, Ignorance Never Dies will be out in the US on August 11th, and you can check out several new songs on the band’s MySpace page.

Bridge Nine Releases Summer CD/LP Compilation (CD?!?)

b9sum09From the inbox:

Bridge Nine Records is excited to announce the release of their Summer 2009 Compilation CD , featuring eight new and never-before-heard tracks as well as music from almost every active band on the B9 roster. Additionally, a one-time pressing of 1000 copies of the summer exclusive tracks will be made available on the B9store on 45rm LP format for only $9 all summer. The amazing track list can be found below, and all new songs will be streaming on MySpace beginning Friday and for those who like things to sound a bit better than myspace, we will be streaming the songs on our Media Player starting Friday.

Why a physical CD compilation? The compilation with exclusive songs seems to have been lost to the internet. And with the popularity of the CD dwindling, it’s much easier to lean towards digital samplers. But we kept having people reference the 11-song comp we put out in 2006 and we decided it was time to put out something that was tangible this year that had rare and unreleased songs from new record we’re doing with Strike Anywhere, Polar Bear Club, Death Before Dishonor, Ruiner, Dead Swans Soul Control, Crime In Stereo and Have Heart along with a Paint It Black song only available on 7” or Itunes. And all of the songs are fucking awesome and the records are really fucking good. And we want to overload you with new music because it’s overwhelming how good our bands are right now.

Release of the Day: REIGN SUPREME – “Testing the Limits of Infinite”

- I listened to this release three times today, and each time it just felt absolutely crushing. REIGN SUPREME has considerably sharpened up its sound since American Violence, which was already tight and decisive, and now they just go in for the kill. Reminds me a lot of STRIFE around In This Defiance (minus the whole straight-edge thing).

Magic Bullet Records Teams Up With GimmeSound.com, Offers Their Catalog For Free Download

From the Deathwish Inc. board, written by Brent Eyestone:

Evolve or die!

Rather than try to fight, sue, or waste incessant time bad-mouthing the music-acquiring habits of people who “illegally” download full albums created by the glut of “hard-working” 20-somethings piling into vans and smoking the reefer in every city, forward-thinking individuals have been spending the last few years acknowledging the behavior and figuring out how to adapt accordingly. IN COLD BLOOD’s “Suicide King” Surfaces on CD

Germany record label Demons Runamok Entertainment (that’s a mouthful) has released on CD the IN COLD BLOOD collection “Suicide King.” IN COLD BLOOD was a short-lived band in the late 90s that featured members of INTEGRITY and played a similar style of metallic hardcore. A389 Recordings put this out on vinyl in 2007. Details about the tracklisting and cover art can be found here.
