Release of the Day: 88 FINGERS LOUIE – “Back on the Streets”

- As noted on Punknews.org, 88 FINGERS LOUIE will be playing a reunion show this August in Chicago. The band will be playing with their original line-up, minus Joe Principal, who will be occupied with RISE AGAINST responsibilities. I usually go with Behind Bars over Back on the Streets, but tonight I was in the mood to hear “100 Proof.”

VISION To Play American Cancer Society Benefit (with Jani Lane of WARRANT)

In one of the stranger musical pairings in recent memory, New Jersey hardcore legends VISION will be sharing a bill with none other than WARRANT’s Jani Lane. The two will cross paths this June at an event called “Back 2 Baneberry,” which will be a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Details about the show, which will be held in Frenchtown, New Jersey, can be found here.

- I’m pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve posted a link to a site hosted by Angelfire since 1999…

Tribunal/Divebomb Records Posts New Digital Sampler

North Carolina based metal/hardcore label Tribunal Records (and its reissue division, Divebomb Records) have put together a new 21 song free downloadable sampler for your enjoyment. You can download it here and listen to new material from INFERI, VALE OF PNATH, IRON THRONES, KILLWHITNEYDEAD, and ASECRETDEATH as well as unreleased material from LINE OF FIRE and BLATANT DISARRAY. Other songs come from AZAZEL, JONIN, and SIX REASONS TO KILL, among others.

REACHING HAND “Threshold”

What’s the deal with Portuguese hardcore bands and appendages??  Prior to hearing this EP from REACHING HAND, the only other hardcore band from Portugal I’d ever heard was POINTING FINGER.  Yet their names are pretty much where the similarities end.  While Pointing Finger were straight-forward, youth crew revivalists, Reaching Hand blend that style with a [...]

New Music From BEDOUIN SOUNDCLASH

The Candian group announced their Where Have All the Songs Played Gone To? EP, out June 12.

You can listen to Stand Alone on their Side One Dummy page and On My Block on their MySpace page.

- Unsurprisingly, the songs are awesome. Stand Alone is vaguely in the “Hush” vein and On My Block has some horns on it. It sounds like Where Have All the Songs Played… is a bsides record from Street Gospels. I loved that record, so I’m extremely interested in this release…

DEA To Release EP on Think Fast!

Tallahassee, Florida’s DEA are keeping up their momentum with their recent singing to Think Fast! Records. The straight-edge hardcore band will be releasing a 7″/digital EP later this year. In mid-2008, the band released a free 13 song release on Get Outta Town Records that compiled an EP and early demos. The group has gotten nods towards bands like GORILLA BISCUITS and JUDGE, among others. A new tune titled “Between You and Me” is on their MySpace page.

CAPITAL 7″ Blind Faith Out Today

Long Island hardcore band CAPITAL have their latest release, Blind Faith, formally out today. The three song 7″ includes the material that was recorded for the band’s ill-fated never released split with CRIME IN STEREO from several years ago. There are two originals, and a scorching cover of DAG NASTY’s classic “I’ve Heard.” You can stream all three songs here, and pick up the vinyl from Iron Pier Records. All orders come with a digital download as well.

- Ah yes, the ol’ ‘dirty armpit’ photo. A classic image that reaches out their fans and says, “Yes, we’re young, and we don’t wash our clothes.”
