HISTORY “Ghosts In The City”

When you name your band HISTORY, you either don’t care about getting web-hits from Google, have a lot of confidence that your music will live up to the title, or know a good lawyer who will defend you in your copyright trial once said band makes a name for itself. In the case of Orlando, [...]

SET YOUR GOALS

Without inspiring lyrics, the whole glue that keeps the punk and hardcore scenes alive would simply collapse. Alright… maybe that’s a bit idealist. But if that element of punk and hardcore vanished, all we’d have left is vanity-based chatter and unbridled cynicism. It would not be a pretty landscape. Fortunately, SET YOUR GOALS are like [...]

BROADCAST SEA “Wounded Solider”

Painfully heavy and slightly disorienting, Wounded Soldier is a pretty brutal rock record from Texas’ BROADCAST SEA. While the band is definitely influenced by traditional hardcore, they take it to a more frenzied level that seems to parallel that of THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES. The major difference between the bands, however, is that the fellas [...]

MOROS EROS

October 31, 2006 was Tuesday of Terror at Victory Records. The label unleashed five new albums on a single day, and while AIDEN, FOUR LETTER LIE, SCARS OF TOMORROW and ENDWELL all layered some kind of pseudo-dark lyrics over par-the-course Victory instrumentals there was band that remained quietly under the radar. While the lyrical content [...]

Ohcrapohcrapohcrap – TORCHE Parts Ways With Guitarist Juan Montoya

According to the Goat, stoner pop kings TORCHE have parted ways with their hairiest member, guitarist Juan Montoya. The band had this to say:

“Juan is no longer playing with us due to lots of personal reasons. We’ll be a three-piece for a while.”

The band released the critically acclaimed Meanderthal earlier this year.

V/A “Punk Goes Crunk”

The Punk Goes… series is one of the last remnants of a time when Fearless Records wasn’t so bad. They surely put out some decent comps throughout the series’ run so far, but with Punk Goes Crunk they have hit an all time low. If it’s not enough that half of their new breed roster [...]

RISE AGAINST (2007)

This interview with RISE AGAINST frontman Tim McIllrath has been a long time coming. First conceived by Jordan and I in October 2005, it failed twice, (once at the Vic in November ’05 and another time at Warped Tour 2006) before coming to fruition in late November of 2006 in Buffalo, NY. Enjoy!  Pastepunk: So when’s [...]

FIREWIND “The Premonition”

Is there anything more diverse than candy? It can range from tooth-achingly saccharine to hauntingly complex and can be created with both savory and sweet components. However, the common thread with candy is that it generally satisfies a simple craving on our palates. And very much like candy, Greece’s FIREWIND write songs that can both [...]
