THE DEAD SEE “Through The Veil”

I don’t know about you but when I think of Lubbock, Texas the only thing that comes to my mind is Bobby Knight. While the Hall Of Fame basketball coach is known for his aggressive demeanor, something tells me the dudes in THE DEAD SEE would not only be able to take a chair shot [...]

Photogenic: WEATHERBOX

When I first heard these guys, I immediately got a SAY ANYTHING-esque vibe from them, which makes sense to see them opening up the recent SAY ANYTHING/MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA/BIFFY CLYRO tour currently criss crossing the country. However, after seeing them perform a full set, it’s clear that these guys have a very good future ahead of them. Max Bemis-esque vocals mixed with heavier guitars and consistently solid drumming makes for a great combination. It’s a shame that no one in the audience really cared that they were even on stage, because their perfectly crafted pop tunes played just as good in a 2,000ish person venue as I’m sure they would in a tiny 20 person basement.

Spotlight On: SEEKER

SEEKER are a relatively new straight-edge hardcore band from Austin, Texas. The group plays 80s style hardcore with big influences from ABSOLUTION, BOLD, BEYOND, BURN, and so forth. You can check out several somewhat crudely recorded demo songs on the band’s MySpace page. I recommend listening to “Subtle Cull” first.

H2O Posts New Song “1995″

After nearly seven years of space in between material, H2O has finally posted a new song. The (still? formerly?) popular hardcore band has added the tune “1995″ to its MySpace page. The track is from their upcoming full-length Nothing To Prove, which was produced by Chad Gilbert, and engineered by Paul Miner. A limited edition, two song 7″ EP titled Still The Same Fellas will be released shortly before the full-length.

MOBILE “Tomorrow Starts Today”

Apparently the guys in MOBILE are a big deal in Canada. They’ve won major awards (Grammy equivalents), sold a ton of records (nearing platinum), and been featured in award winning movies (Oscar equivalents), or so the press surrounding the US release of their album, Tomorrow Starts Today, would have you believe. With that said, the [...]

ENDGAME Calls It Quits

New Jersey’s ENDGAME have decided to disband. The melodic hardcore band released an EP titled Distracted on Get Outta Town Records earlier this year and a split with MOVEMENT in 2006. More information can be found on their MySpace page.

- Gahh… too soon! Too soon! I was really hoping to hear another EP or a full-length from this band. Distracted showed so much promise. Boooooooo….
