COBRA STARSHIP “While The City Sleeps, We Rule The Streets”

I’m pretty sure no one asked for a band that’s a shallower, less creative, and less memorable version of HEAD AUTOMATICA. In six months, shelves of used CD stores are going to be crying out in mercy, begging against holding another copy of this dreck. G A B E – you should have took the [...]

Photogenic: O’DEATH

So it’s like 1:30am at this point. I’m ridiculously tired after a long evening, yet here I am, standing in some circus/cabaret-inspired rotunda at the South Street Seaport in NYC. O’DEATH are losing their minds on stage, while banging out their Appalachia jug-band punk. Everyone in the small crowd is jumping around, slamming into each other and screaming along. Some crazy dude with dreads is doing the robot. The banjo player takes another huge swig of Makers Mark and descends into the crowd, banjo in hand. Such is O’DEATH live; a mix of shirtless, drunken playing, improvised percussion, and pure, unadultered absurdity. Sleep? I couldn’t think of any better way to spend my early morning.

Photos from the show, including shots of opening act DEATH VESSEL, can be found

The group also recently filmed a video for the track “Down to Rest”, off their debut Head Home, which you can watch here.

BRAZIL “The Philosophy Of Velocity”

After releasing a juvenile EP (Daesin) and a stellar AT THE DRIVE-IN-influenced full-length (A Hostage And The Meaning Of Life) through Fearless Records, BRAZIL were all over the place during 2004, touring with COHEED AND CAMBRIA, the Warped Tour, BEAR VS SHARK, and EMERY (somehow I caught each one of these). However, following all of [...]
