CRASH AND BURN “The Value Of Mistrust”

I can’t say I enjoyed this album all that much, but it was worth a couple rotations. CRASH AND BURN’s latest, The Value Of Mistrust, is a record of clever rock music blended with some hardcore elements. You won’t find any breakdowns, but you’ll get some weird solos and guitar noodling at various points. The [...]

Behold… The Compulsory License

It’s been awhile since I posted much of anything about copyright matters on Pastepunk, mostly because I got burned out on the topic while slogging through law school, but there’s an especially interesting post up on Kings of A&R that discusses some movement regarding compulsory licensing of music on digital services in relation to the “Section 115 Reform Act” that’s currently being debated in Congress. The post is a bit on the technical side of things in regards to the law but I think it’s an easy, and highly informative read overall.

“One Dark Summer” Sampler on pureVOLUME

PureVOLUME has recently added a brand new digital sampler from Tooth & Nail/Solid State Records that features 32 artists/songs. There’s material included from some of the labels’ established acts and their new signings as well. Head over here to check it out.

- If you listen closely, you can hear “the cheapo CD sampler” deflating like a tire that just ran over a crate of nails…

Rivaly Posts New MP3s for VERSE and ANOTHER BREATH; Label Owner Extremely Stoked On New Releases

I wish all label owners seemed this enthused about their releases. Rivalry’s Kyle Whitlow tossed up the following on the Rivalry page:

“Let me just casually say that THESE RECORDS FUCKING RIP AND I CAN’T WAIT FOR THEM TO FINALLY GET INTO KIDS HANDS. Seriously, so stoked to be releasing both of these albums. The AB album is 15 tracks, like 35 minutes. Seriously an awesome album, not just “some hardcore record” – a really great album from front to back, I love it. The VERSE LP is heavier, more intense, so fucking awesome! Tons of “anthemic” qualities to the new VERSE record.”

Anyway, two new mp3s have been posted from both ANOTHER BREATH and VERSE, and all four songs are absolutely killer. Get your listening on by visiting the Rivalry media page.

RISE AGAINST Streaming The Sufferer and the Witness

You can fnd the stream of the disc on their myspace account.

Link: The Sufferer and The Witness

- I’m not knocking RISE here, but who wants to bet that the myspace stream will be nigh-unlistenable because so many people are streaming it at the same time in addition to the fact that myspace streams are notoriously unreliable?

Epitaph Records signs SOL.ILLAQUISTS OF SOUND

The hip-hop group are apparently the protoges of SAGE FRANCIS, and will “drop” their debut on Anti/Epitaph September 26. Whether it is Epitaph’s Anti- imprint or Epitaph proper remains to be seen.

Wow.

I just got back from Bane/Modern Life is War at the Pound in Sf. Seriously amazing. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a very long time. Show review coming soon…
