RADIOHEAD Announces 2006 Plans

Taken from NME.com:

“”‘We are going to tour next year, definitely,’ Ed O’Brien told Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 show last night (December 21). ‘Hopefully we’re going to have a couple of tracks to download by about April or May. But we’re going to go out in May, we’re going to do some theatres because part of what we’re doing is play new material. It’s a good way to get your shit together.’

O’Brien explained the band will do UK and European dates in May before heading to America in the summer. He said the band hoped they would have around ten new songs in their set by then.

Discussing the album itself, the guitarist said there was no confirmed release date yet, but said Radiohead planned more recording sessions in February.

‘We’ve been talking to (producer) Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, who’s worked with Madonna and Bjork and hopefully in February we’ll reconvene with him,”" said O’Brien. “”We’ve got some great songs but we won’t release something we’re not happy with. The thing with Radiohead is that each record has a different sound, it’s really hard finding something that’s different and sits well with us.’

PEDRO THE LION Pulls A ONELINEDRAWING, I Mean A Jonah Matranga…

In a lengthy message on the PEDRO THE LION message board, word has it that the band will not use the PEDRO moniker anymore and further work by frontman Dave Bazan will be simply under his name.

Taken from the post:

“”Dave will be making music, touring, and releasing records under his own name. He’ll still be writing and singing the songs. Just not under the name Pedro The Lion [...] TW decided that being a full-time musician and being away from his family 100+ days a year was not the best thing for him now. Dave does not want to call what he does Pedro The Lion without TW’s involvement. There are no hard feelings, no weirdness, or anything dramatic to worry about. TW did not break up Pedro The Lion. Dave has been thinking about dropping the band name for a long time. They are still good friends. TW will continue to work on The Soft Drugs recordings and i’m sure will be playing shows in and around Seattle whenever he can.

This is not to say that the Pedro The Lion name will never be used again. But for as far as we are planning ahead, there will be no new releases or touring using the band name Pedro The Lion.”"

Update From KADDISFLY

The New Year is approaching quickly; hopefully everyone has had a most excellent December. We are all having family time at the moment, but in the next week we will ‚Äúofficially‚Äù begin the writing process for Set Sail the Prairie. We have a rough outline of the whole release, the track-list, the album art (which you haven’t seen), and the songs themselves. The record is going to be based around one question: How fast can Gene Wilder drink a two-liter of cola? We have a pretty good idea of who will be engineering and helping to produce the record, and the location will be Oregon. We will begin recording March 1st, and will be working through the end of April. In other news we still don’t have all the equipment we need, but it will all come in due time. The human experience can be a misleading guide to the true nature of things.”"

- Set Sail the Prairie will be the second full length on Hopeless Records from KADDISFLY. I recently spent some time with guitar player Kelsey Kuther and he got me very excited about a lot of new things they plan on doing with this release.
