Live VISION Set From WMFU Radio Surfaces Online

I normally don’t post to links like this, but VISION is one of my all-time favorite hardcore bands and the linked live set from 1988 has a tracklisting that’s simply killer (especially if you enjoy the band’s earlier material).

Rivalry’s TIME FOR LIVING Calls It Quits

From the inbox:

“”After a healthy dose of the ups and downs of being a band, TIME FOR LIVING has decided it’s time to close the curtain and call it a day.

To everyone who’s ever supported us, filled in when we were in need, helped with shows, tours, shelter, food to eat, merch to sell, gas money, beer, soda, and burrito money, etc… thank you so so much. We made a lot of good freinds through this band, and hopefully those friendships and more will carry over with the future endeavors we plan to get underway.

Our Last show ever will be:

Saturday February 25th. Rivalry Showcase #3 @ Phoenix Theatre 201 Washington St Petaluma, CA $15

CAPITAL TRAGEDY “Battle Cries and Broken Promises EP”

Battle Cries and Broken Promises is chock full of hungry metalcore, with stinging dual guitars, crispy, sharp drumming, and the toothy, coherent vocals of Kent Young. Sounding a bit like Chad Gilbert era SHAI HULUD or EVERY TIME I DIE’s Keith Buckley, Young is a very capable vocalist who can scream his threat red, but [...]

- MAXIMUM PENALTY released a full-length in like 1996 called “”Independent”" on the now long defunct IJT Records. I’m probably one of five people who still has their copy and breaks it out for a listen every now then. It ‘s one of the weirdest “”hardcore”" releases I own, and the only thing I can compare it to is HAZEN ST, for better or for worse. A much better release on IJT however came from the short lived band FACTION ZERO, who released “”Liberation”" in 1997. It too is long out of print, but should you ever find it in a used bin, consider it to be a treasured find, especially if you’re a fan of 108.
