THE USED “In Love and Death”

The second full length from Utah’s THE USED is a testament to the band’s ambitious rise to the top of the charts and to the headlines of magazines. It is a symbol of the group’s artistic integrity and creative prowess. It illustrates not only their skill level, but also their ability to remain cutting edge. [...]

MAGIC BULLETS, SATISFACTION @ Silver Lake Lounge, Los Angeles, CA 8/29/05

Ah yes, the local bar show, how I have missed thee. After two months straight of a festival tour, the huge contrast of going out with the boys and seeing some local unsigned buzz bands was refreshing to say the least. The two-band bill at the Silver Lake Lounge consisting of SATISFACTION and MAGIC BULLETS [...]

YOUTH GROUP Set for US Tour; Dates With DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE

From epitaph.com:

Following the release of their highly regarded Epitaph debut LP Skeleton Jar in May 2005, YOUTH GROUP has signed on as sole support for two weeks of the much-anticipated DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE tour between the dates of October 3rd and October 19th.

These dates comprise the core of YOUTH GROUP’S greater North American tour which commences at the CMJ music convention in N.Y.C. on Sept. 14th.

Seemingly a match made in heaven, DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE and YOUTH GROUP are two artists that share an affinity for evocative atmospheres, and melancholic soundscapes. Nor is the upcoming tour their first creative collaboration. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE guitarist Chris Walla recently headed into the studio to take on mixing duties for a new YOUTH GROUP track and as a sincere YOUTH GROUP fan, he had this to say about Skeleton Jar: “”Skeleton Jar is sweet and dear and genuine in a world stolen by cynics. Put simply, Youth Group gets it. If you don’t love them your heart is dead.”"

Revelation Records Is Assembling A Street Team

From Revelationrecords.com:

We are excited to announce that we are now currently scouring the United States and Canada, for YOU! We are in need of some loyal and hardworking friends to help us spread the word.

Being a part of the street team is a great way to get involved with the music business, and directly help the bands that you love. It’s a great way for everyone to be involved, not just the people living in Los Angeles.

What you’ll do: Help promote bands on tour, and new records coming out with stickers, flyers, posters, and promo cds, at record stores, venues, and other hangouts.

What you’ll get: Some cool swag and lots of experience!

What to do: Send me (Jamie) an email: SecretService@RevHQ.com Be sure to write “Secret Service” in the subject line. Tell me who you are, and I will reply back to your email with a few short questions to answer!

I look forward to talking with all of you!

- If the Victory Records street team is lead by an almighty fleet of Cadillac Escalades, then what would be the appropriate vehicle of choice by Revelation? Hmmm…

These Prices Are INSAAAAAAAAANE!!

Am I dating myself with Crazy Eddie references? Do people who didn’t grow up in New York even know about Crazy Eddie?!?

Things you want to have an excess an inventory: oil, food, water, medicine. Things that you don’t want to have stockpiled to the ceiling: low priced CD compilations.

Due to the “”wonderful”" thing known as “”CD returns from distributors,”" we’re running an awesome online special on both Pastepunk Broken Lamps and Hardcore Memories compilations. As it turns out, having your CDs in large chain stores is great — but not if you can’t afford to let people across the nation know they’re actually in the stores!

Anyway, both compilations are now available online from Suburban Home Records for only TWO DOLLARS a piece. That’s right, 50 great punk, hardcore, and metal songs for only $4, plus shipping. Check it out here.

Spotlight On: SHADOWBOXER

I noticed some people talking about this band on the Bridge 9 board, and it made me pull out their release Dark At The End Of The Tunnel, released on State of Grace Recordings in late 2004. SHADOWBOXER contain ex-members of an impressive cast, including SCREW 32 (singer Andrew Champion!), THE NERVE AGENTS, and THE FRISK. Their ten song album is rippin’ with melodic, fast punk/hardcore, and you can check out three songs from it here.

HELMET “Size Matters”

HELMET was never really a band that spent much time on my radar. In fact, the only time where the band’s name left much an impression on me was when the short-lived late 90s post-hardcore band HANDSOME drew HELMET comparisons. That said, after 7+ years since the band’s last full-length, I bet there’s a whole [...]
