Two years, one month, and 18 days later…

… and I’ve finally written another column. This one is a little on the short side, but it’s about something that’s been brewing inside my head for awhile. Check it out here.

Even posting news about this man makes me smile…

As mentioned on Punknews.org this morning, you can check out a brand new ANDREW W.K. song titled “”You Will Remember Tonight”" right here. The Wolf has yet to release information pertaining to a title, release date, or even a record label for his upcoming third full-length.

CAST ASIDE “The Struggle”

I’ve sort of wondered on and off over the years if it’s taboo to compare a current straight-edge band to STRIFE given the latter band’s flag-waving stance turning into a pile of ashes and resentment. Setting such personnel issues aside however, CAST ASIDE do honestly merit a musical comparison to the former metallic hardcore legends, [...]

MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD in Artwork Controversy Once Again

Details are sparse at the moment, but MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD posted the following in their Trustkill Journal today:

Our new record is mastered and ready to go except….. cover art beef once again. I don’t know if anyone recalls the shit we went through with the Our Lady cover art but this time its even worse. Europe and Japan are refusing to release the album as is and have put the brakes on the entire operation. So needless to say, we’re working on it and trying to figure something out so it will come out on time for a worldwide release September 20th. I’ll get into more details later, right now its very delicate. Like dismantling a timebomb on a faultline.

Ferret Inks LIGEIA; Album Expected in Early 2006

From Ferretstyle.com:

New England’s LIGEIA have joined the forces of good here at Ferret. Ligeia have spent the last year playing around the Springfield, MA and New England areas, catching the attention of Ken from local heros, Unearth. Ken and the band have spent time over the last several months, when Unearth was home, putting together the as yet untitled debut album from Ligeia. For now check out some rough tracks at the bands myspace page here. Look for their debut early 2006.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD Travel to “Bat Country”

From the inbox:

Head over to myspace.com/avengedsevenfold to see the premiere of the new AVENGED SEVENFOLD video for “”Bat Country.”"

- Neat video. Not to go all absolutepunk.net on y’all, but AVENGED SEVENFOLD said some pretty interesting things about their stay on Hopeless Records in a very recent interview in Outburn Magazine. Here’s a quote from vocalist M. Shadows – “”We’ve been on two independents (labels), and on one we never got paid a single royalty and on the other one we had to sell 200,000 records before we got royalties. That’s another thing kids say, ‘why aren’t you on Hopeless anymore?’ Because we don’t fucking want to be on Hopeless anymore! Now we’re somewhere where we can get the help we need and do the things we want.”" Hmmmm…..
