FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW “Not One Word Has Been Omitted”

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME are finding themselves with some stiff competition lately in the realm of “accessible tech-metal.” I don’t mean “accessible” in the commercial radio sense, but more like, one can listen to a band in this style without suffering a brain hemorrhage. FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW are highly impressive throughout the [...]

The band has two new songs up on their pureVOLUME page, titled “Someone Else’s Arms,” and “Anything.” Take a listen and if you feel lucky, post thoughts on our message board in this thread.

Press Release:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Baltimore, Maryland February 28, 2005

The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (http://www.syrentha.org) is proud to announce the addition of From Autumn To Ashes, Converge, Bane, Motion City Soundtrack, The Get up Kids, Murder By Death, and Stretch Arm Strong, to it’s growing repertoire of bands joining in the fight against breast cancer as part of the The Shirts for a Cure Project (http://www.shirtsforacure.com)

The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment(SSE) is a non-profit organization that provides funding for chemotherapy and other medication for underprivileged women who cannot afford the growing expense of fighting breast cancer. In just under 30 months SSE has raised more than $160,000 through a series of events that include benefit concerts, dinners, auctions and awareness walks.

Because SSE is very involved within the punk community, The Shirts For A Cure Project was launched so fans could have a chance to own an exclusive piece of merchandise while giving voice to the issues of Breast Cancer.

When a band donates a shirt design, the design becomes an SSE exclusive, the site features limited edition t-shirts from various bands; My Chemical Romance, Thursday, Hot Water Music, Thrice, The Bouncing Souls, Strike Anywhere, and Taking Back Sunday are only some of the many artists participating in this project. These exclusive designs are only available online or at SSE events.

Equal Vision signs THE FALL OF TROY, Chad says YESSSSSSSSSS

A statement from the band:

If you don’t know by now, we are officially part of the Equal Vision Records family. We are VERY excited to be part of such a respected and loyal record label. We will be hitting the studio after our show this Saturday night for a month with producer Barrett Jones (Foo Fighters, Nirvana, The Melvins), recording 10-12 songs for a new full-length due out in the summertime. This will all be followed by a west coast tour in April with THE CLARITY PROCESS. Go to their website.

More tunes from RELIENT K

The furious snow flying by my window right now doesn’t really fit the “sunny-day pop-rock” of RELIENT K, but at least it has me looking forward to Spring. A stream of the band’s track, “Be My Escape,” can be found here (real).

CARRY ON to re-unite, play two proper “final shows”

Lambgoat.com has the official word…

“”Perhaps following Stay Gold’s lead, Carry On will play two final shows this summer. According to the band, ‘We never got a chance to play a last show and it was been eating away at us since our last performance on December 8th 2001. We all have been wanting closure over the last few years and now we have the chance to play our last show ever.’ As such, the group (Corey Williams, Todd Jones, Ryan George, Lucas McFadden, Greg Bacon) will perform on July 1st and 2nd at the Showcase Theatre in Corona, CA. Opening bands will be announced shortly, though Champion has already been confirmed for both shows.”"

Washington Post looks at the “Next Generation” of music downloading…

There’s nothing really new being said in this Washington Post article besides the fact that many of the “”legitimate”" music downloading sites (Rhapsody, Napster, iTunes) are finally achieving some degree of market penetration beyond that of typical technology first movers, and that such upward trends will continue steadily throughout the next couple of years.

So far, bulk-subscription or “”rental”" models like Rhapsody and “”Napster to Go”" have lagged behind iTunes’ pay-per-download model. But devotees say it offers an experience closer to that of the illegal services, in that users can download songs on a whim without adding to their bill. JupiterResearch predicted that the subscription market would eventually eclipse the market for a la carte songs.

Consumers may soon have a third option in the form of licensed file sharing. Using technology developed by Shawn Fanning, who created the original Napster in the late 1990s, several companies are planning to launch file-sharing services that let users swap songs with one another, just as they would if they were using one of the unlicensed services like Kazaa or eDonkey. The technology simply requires users to pay for the trades that were once free.

PAINT IT BLACK and THE LOVED ONES spend the weekend together…

From the inbox:

Both Paint It Black and The Loved Ones are Philly natives, so it makes sense for both bands to jointly celebrate their respective Jade Tree joints by doing an extended weekend of East Coast release shows:

03/04/2005 New York, NY United States @ The Knitting Factory NY

03/05/2005 Providence, RI United States @ Century Lounge

03/06/2005 Philadelphia, PA United States @ First Unitarian Church

Once the smoke clears the bands will go their separate ways; The Loved Ones head out with Against Me while Paint It Black with slather the West Coast with Portland based From Ashes Rise.

- Hopefully Dr. Yemin will soon be returning the interview questions I sent him, and we can get that PAINT IT BLACK interview up by Paradise’s release date. Definitely an album not to miss!
