New music from OPEN HAND

Trustkill’s OPEN HAND have added their brand new song, “Tough Guy,” to their myspace page. This (highly rockin’) song also appears on the Trustkill mini-sampler that accompanies HOPESFALL’s A-Types release. OPEN HAND’s upcoming release, You and Me hits stores in early February.

ROCKY VOTOLATO “Suicide Machines”

This review has been long overdue. Rocky Votolato, known best for his songwriting role in WAXWING, has taken a new direction with his talents and put his effort into a solo project that I can only describe as stripped-down honesty. While many musicians opt for more electronics, gimmicks, and good looks, Votolato creates music that [...]

LAST PERFECTION – Drawing Conclusions (United Edge)

- Where the hell did these guys come from?!? Kurt Ballou produced technical metalcore, with melody(!) that will leave your head spinning…

KaZaa is a cute and cuddly application for your PC…

… until it tries to make it bleed from the inside!!

Peer-to-peer program Kazaa is the No. 1 spyware threat on the Internet, according to Computer Associates International.

Seriously… if you know anyone using KaZaa, just whack them over the head with an oversized rubber mallet and politely drop their computer out of a window.

MAE – Destination B-Sides

- This is one impressive B-sides release, especially for a band with only one full-length under its belt. The live version of “”Futuro,”" is much better than the original, and the remix versions of “”This Time Is The Last Time,”" and “”Goodbye, Goodnight,”" are excellent as well. If you’re a fan of MAE, this is a must have.

No Idea looks far into the future…

… and sees the following releases in the sorta distant horizon:

- TWELVE HOUR TURN – “”The Expense Of Flight”" (collection) CD

- THE HOLY MOUNTAIN – “”t.b.a.”" 7″” (Recording now!)

- FIFTH HOUR HERO – “”t.b.a.”" LP/CD (Recording soon!)

- THIS IS MY FIST – “”t/b/a”" LP/CD (Recording soon!)

- TRAPDOOR FUCKING EXIT – “”t/b/a”" LP/CD (Recording Mid-2005!)

- ARMALITE – something (Not recorded yet!)

- AGAINST ME! / LUCERO – split 12″” (Not recorded yet!)

- CURSED / MI AMORE – split 12″”/CD (Not recorded yet!) – ANNALISE – “”Annalise Exeter England”" CD (Three albums on one CD! “”Versus Everything”", “”Our Story So Far”", and “”Tour Issue”")

- FLOOR – “”Resurfacing: 1993-1995″” 2xLP/CD (Singles, comps, demos, unreleased and more!)

- I HATE MYSELF – “”15 songs”" CD (collects all songs NOT on “”ten songs”" CD)

- J CHURCH – “”The Allied Years”" 2xCD (“”Prophylaxis”", “”Quetzalcoatl”" and “”Analysis”" and more! 39 songs!)

GLASSJAW shuffles line-up; bassist replaced by machine…

From theprp.com:

Having recently parted ways with guitarist Todd Weinstock, drummer Larry Gorman and bassist Dave Allen, Glassjaw have temporarily enlisted the services of former bassist Manuel Carrero, reportedly to handle the guitar duties, and former drummer Durijah Lang (now of Classic Case) to fill in for the groups upcoming live shows which will take place later this year. Currently their schedule is as follows:

December 22nd Farmingdale, NY – The Crazy Donkey

December 26th Sayreville, NJ – Starland Ballroom (Feat. Thursday, We’re All Broken)

- As a fan, this is getting depressing. If GLASSJAW is going to be kept going forward only by name and with a constant rotation of musicians outside of Beck and Sir Palumbo, I think it’s time to throw in the towel…

AMBRY joins The Death Scene roster

Press release!

Brooklyn, NY-based THE DEATH SCENE RECORDING COMPANY is pleased to announce the addition of its newest roster members, AMBRY…

Happiness is relative. While most bands are happy to emulate the bands they admire, few truly attempt to make the sounds they draw from their instruments and the words they put to paper their own. Enter New Hampshire’s AMBRY.

Having formed in the Summer of 2002. AMBRY (Defined as: A niche near the altar of a church for keeping sacred vessels and vestments) sprung from mutual friendships, the demise of the members’ previous bands, a chance Livejournal post and the desire for all involved to write music from the heart that would affect listeners the same way their favorite bands have affected them. Having worked with the initial lineup for about a year a few bass player and drummer adjustments over that time takes us to early 2004 and the solid AMBRY foundation that exists today. Made up of Justin Bloch (Guitar), Geof Gagnon (Guitar), Christopher Thibault (Vocals), Aaron Bernard (Bass), Derrick Flanagin (Drums) Now solidified team AMBRY quickly entered Jam room studios in Hudson, NH and recorded a promising 3 song demo that combines the best elements of melodic punk with a heavy edge and darkly introspective lyrics. The 3 songs quickly garnered the band much internet attention, a multitude of Purevolume plays and a spot on the Summer 2004 Utterpunk.com tour that took them from one coast to the other and back. Along the way they shared the stage with bands such as Silverstein, Armor for sleep, Northstar, and Moneen then culminating in a hometown Vans Warped Tour appearance.

Jump once more to Fall 2004 and Ambry becomes the third band to sign to THE DEATH SCENE based on the strength of their demo, live performance and determination to make amazing music. With the deal signed, AMBRY now prepares to enter the studio in January 2005 with noted producer Jesse Cannon (A Static Lullaby, Northstar, Shai Hulud) to create what will undoubtedly be one of 2005′s standout releases. Upon completion of their new CD AMBRY intend to leave their lives and loves behind to embark on a non-stop touring schedule in support of the release scheduled for Spring 2005.

- Amazingly, the above gives me very little indication what these guys sound like besides ‘melodic punk’ and ‘dark introspective lyrics.’ Hmm…
