MOURNINGSTAR on pureVOLUME

MOURNINGSTAR, an up-and-coming band on Atlanta based Falcom records has some songs up on pureVOLUME. I’ve written about these guys a few times in the past, and just as a refresher – they sound like old-school STRUNG OUT (“”Another Day In Paradise”" era), which is a rare thing these days. Give them a listen!

Law of Inertia clarifies still highly awesome news!

Straight from the Law of Inertia Commander In Chief, Mr. Ross Siegel:

1) The Drowningman CD we’re putting out, “”Learn To Let It go”" is 12 songs. 10 are previously unreleased. 2 of songs are previously released on seven-inches that have been out of print for about 6 years now. They span the entire history of Drowningman’s career and are all fantastic songs that will never be available anywhere else. 2 of the songs were recorded after their Equal Vision CD and were never released because the band broke up. Don’t miss this.

2) Yes, The Rise’s CD, “”Reclamation Process,”" will be included for free in the November/December issue of Law of Inertia Magazine. Yes, it will be the only place you will be able to find the CD (except for the UK where the CD is being sold in record stores by Ferret Music). Yes it is a fantastic record blending hardcore, techno, punk, and other good stuff. Yes this is the first time a band has ever given away a record completely for free. Yes, The Rise will guest edit that issue of Law of Inertia. No you should not miss it.

– STOKED!

THE DECEMBER DRIVE “hands like guns and crashing sounds”

“Handslikegunsandcrashingsounds” is an album that has been a long time coming. THE DECEMBER DRIVE is the gem of the South Texas music scene, a band that has survived music changes, band drama, and even a tour-ending van crash. All these factors make up for a long awaited album that seemed like it would never see [...]

New tune from INSTRUCTION!

I’ve been excited about the upcoming debut release from INSTRUCTION since the band was first announced (contains ex-members of QUICKSAND and the criminally underrated ERROR TYPE: 11), and Decoy Music has come up in the clutch with their posting of the first single from the band, entitled, “”Breakdown.”" Check out a real audio stream of this highly rockin’ song below. The guitar sound is so wonderfully heavy!

Although I’m as sick of the whole ‘screamo’ thing as anyone else…

…the upcoming stateside release of FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND’s “Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation,” is sure to outgrow whatever trendy label is draped all over it. This band can flat out play!

BLUE MONDAY signs to Bridge 9

Bystander Fanzine has noted that Vancouver’s BLUE MONDAY have joined the Bridge 9 roster. BLUE MONDAY previously released an excellent full-length on Perfect Victim Records that should make any fan of old-school hardcore quake in their moshing shoes.

THE BANK ROBBERS “The Pattern Reversed”

To be honest, I had trouble reviewing THE BANK ROBBERS since a classic episode of The Simpsons was demanding my immediate attention. I had seen the episode a dozen times already, with everything from Homer’s cut off thumb to Lisa’s science project Lingo, but I could still watch it a dozen more. That’s one of [...]
