THE STEREO “Rewind+Record”

Given the relatively recent mainstream success of JIMMY EAT WORLD, I really hope that the same kind of luck and spotlight can be brought to Jamie Woolford and his revolving door of musicians known as THE STEREO. Release after release, this band continues to pound out some of the catchiest, largest sounding melodic rock jams [...]

Somebody please hand me a barf bag…

“”I think it’s the hottest scene in the country,”" says Lou Plaia, vice president of marketing at Lava, an Atlantic Records affiliate that recently signed two bands from the region. “”There’s this new sound, this ‘emo’ sound, that looks like it’s getting to be possibly the next big thing. And the biggest bands in that genre are coming from Long Island.”"

I’m not dead after all….

Quote of the week

Scene kids going to dance clubs and not shows anymore rubs me the wrong way. Fuck going dancing, go see a touring band, buy a CD and support them. Scenester dance clubs are huge out here. Meanwhile there are no good indie all ages clubs like The Smell, Koos Caf√©, and the PCH club. I wonder why? No one really goes to shows anymore out here. They just dance to 80‚Äôs music in Hollywood, Echo Park or Silverlake. That offends me.” – Status boss Seth Brown

Everytime I’ve seen HOT ROD CIRCUIT (and that’s gotta be at least 10 times by now), I’ve wondered what [...]

jordan keeps me grounded…

my mother used to say, “”nick, you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it.”" then my father would say, “”no you can’t, you can be something reasonable…a garbageman, firefighter, or a cop like me, that’s about it.”"

jordan clearly sides with my father…

They should play GUTTERMOUTH to captured terrorists…

Kung Fu Records has put out a live DVD by the kings of suck, GUTTERMOUTH. I think you’ll have to pluck out some of my toenails before I watch that one…On the plus side though, the package included the new ANTIFREEZE disc, who I honestly thought broke up like two years ago. Thankfully Kung Fu has salvaged their karma by releasing the great ALKALINE TRIO DVD (review coming soon).
