Sweet Mother Malassie this is heavy!! WITH RESISTANCE is 100% metalcore mayhem. Tightly wound and ready to explode at moments notice, this 30 minute disc is fiercely aggressive and cathartic on the soul. Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of this release however is the sound quality, which retains a slightly older, unique hardcore sound that while comes off as clean and crisp, it hardly has the gooey residue of most modern production jobs. In terms of memorable songwriting, WITH RESISTANCE toss in a haunting piano interlude for the sixth track, “Chalk and Charcoal,” and it just overflows with ominous sentiment. The quiet lull continues into the beginning of the seventh track, “Condition Red,” but then a little more than a minute in, things just go for broke with surging momentum and NORA-like riffing. True to all Immigrant Sun releases, the packaging is sharp and full of that DIY sentiment. With so many metalcore bands now going for that intentional “techer than tech” advantage, WITH RESISTANCE don’t need any fancy labelling gimmicks to express their most impressive skills – this disc is pretty damn sick.
