WHERE FEAR AND WEAPONS MEET “Control EP”

Oh hell yeah!!! I didn’t have the greatest of expectations coming into this release, thinking it might be more generic old-school hardcore, but WHERE AND FEAR AND WEAPONS MEET tore the lips off my face and made me mosh it up hard just to get them back. At only six songs in 17 or so minutes, these guys don’t have any time to fuck around, and that sentiment in noted almost immediately on here. For some reason, and I don’t remember this band sounding so much like that in the past, “Control” distinctly screams of SICK OF IT ALL influences and songwriting, especially on the track “Everything Between,” where I here an almost identical breakdown in the vein of SOIA’s “Potential For A Fall.” Admittedly, I’ll take all the SOIA worshipping I can get since they are a ridiculously underappreciated band in this day and age. The production on “Control” lends a lot of personality to the disc, taking on a very fluid, but not too polished approach. The sound is fast, hard, and aggressive, but not overwhelmingly heavy, and it really does wonders for the band’s sizzling guitar work and rapid-fire drumming. Bottom line: this is a heck of an EP that’s been getting much playing time on my stereo, and there’s no plans to reduce such listening pleasure at any time in the near future.
