TOKYO ROSE “Chasing Fireflies”

Blah…TOKYO ROSE are another bland pop-punk band with well-played music, mediocre lyrics, and absolutely nothing engaging to offer. In essence, a band like this exists in probably every local scene across the country. They draw well at shows, people buy their shirts and talk about how they can be “the next big thing,” but in actuality, they’ve just taken a number like the other few thousand decent bands in the same situation, hoping that they probably win the “big label” lottery. “Chasing Fireflies” just seems to typical for my liking – even down to the artwork featuring two large shots of the band “looking pretty.” or the psuedo-emotional, “I miss you too, sweetie” lyrics. With five songs, clocking in at 22 minutes, this drawn out carbon copy of influences assures it’s place in the never-to-be-listened-to-again pile. Sorry.
