THE REAL DANGER “S/T”

Former members of the Dutch hardcore band UPPERCUT (no… not the old NYHC band of the same name) put their DESCENDENTS and ALL infatuation into the recorded form on THE REAL DANGER’s self-titled debut full-length. This script is nothing new, but the five piece excels in writing short, tight, melodic punk rock jams that sink right into your brain. The element that sells THE REAL DANGER is the unyielding sincerity in their lyrics – a glowing ember of inspiration that, like the BOUNCING SOULS, flows into the infectiousness of the music. A line in the opening song “Guitars” neatly summarizes a simple positive plea the reappears throughout the twelves songs: “break the chain that keeps you down inside your heart.” THE REAL DANGER won’t knock you down with speed, but there’s always a pick-up in their step and a propulsive beat to guide you through. Now only if there was a song about coffee…
