THE GAMITS “A Small Price to Pay”

If you haven’t heard of THE GAMITS yet, trust me, you will soon. Ever since I heard them for the first time almost a year ago, their debut full length, “Endoresed By You,” has been a staple on the stereo, and I’ve been thirsty for me. Thankfully these guys answered my call with a seven song EP to hold me over for the time being. Simply put, THE GAMITS play some of the best pop-punk out there and have vocal harmonies to die for. Hook after hook, beat after beat, this stuff is undeniably infectious. The first and second tracks, “Reset,” and “Beach Boy,” respectively, refuse to leave my head. Most of the tunes are mid to fast tempo, but just when you’re not looking, these guys rip out a burner on “Bender.” Darn sweet if ya ask me. THE GAMITS rock because there’s nothing remotely false about them. The lyrics aren’t overly sappy, they don’t plaster their liner notes with goofy pictures of them in ridiculous poses, and by all means, they don’t appear to be the next pop-punk band looking to premier on that wasteland known as TRL. Everytime I listen to this EP, I’m reminded strongly of latter day SCREECHING WEASEL when they were still on Lookout Records. THE GAMITS are tight, well composed, and set to rock your world. Crisp recording and sound quality puts “A Small Price to Pay,” nearly over the top. This disc comes highly recommended, and do not pass up “Endorsed By You,” either.
