SOME GIRLS “All My Friends Are Going Death”

Never before have I heard a side-project hardcore band that sounds so much like the respective, but diverse list of bands that its members belong to. SOME GIRLS feature Wes Eisold (GIVE UP THE GHOST), Rob Moran (UNBROKEN, OVER MY DEAD BODY), and Justin Pearson (THE LOCUST, SWING KIDS). The end result from that confluence of noises is a release that shatters through 15 songs in less than 18 minutes, yelping and screaming like a wounded puppy tugging a sack of beans through a mine field. As SOME GIRLS barely stick around long enough to make an impression, the biggest fault with “All My Friends Are Going Death” is that it leaves nothing memorable in its wake, except a rockin’ cover of “No Fun” by THE STOOGES. And even when “All My Friends…” is rattling through one’s speakers, the style of music on here is far from engaging. Artistically, SOME GIRLS feature an impressive melting pot of fury, but I can’t say their work is all that rewarding from the other end.
