REVIVER

It’s impossible to understate the power of a personal connection to a particular band that seems to only grow stronger over time. I first heard REVIVER when a friend recommended them to me after describing them as influenced by former Long Island hardcore giants SILENT MAJORITY, a band that means the world to me. I’ve gotten that kind of recommendation before, and with the exception of early CRIME IN STEREO material, it has mostly lead to disappointment. But something about REVIVER instantly clicked, possibly because SILENT MAJORITY is just one facet of the band’s influences, which range from anything like BANE or even THRICE, along with the band’s own proprietary design. It’s no coincidence that State of Mind Recordings, a Long Island label put out the band’s 2010 EP Potential Wasteland. I imagine they felt the same thing I did when hearing these guys for the first time – a new generation of dudes tapping into something that still feels emotionally and musically pure. You can stream the EP below, and I support picking up a physical copy of the release which features beautifully illustrated artwork.
